Download Manager Help

Hey guys, I'm a newbie with TP/SMF - I've everything installed and ready to go. Instead of using the upload feature of DL Manager, I uploaded all my files using SmartFTP to my hosting server under site/tp-downloads/Folder1/file1.zip

I then went on to add a blank file for each upload and am trying to edit it through phpMyadmin to change the dl link/url for that file to the www.site.com/tp-downloads/Folder1/file1.zip but I'm not sure as to what I should adding. Please help.

Also is there some way to not upload a file through the Dl Manager, but to just specify the root  url/link from the Admin CP? Thanks

You can use the FTP section of the download manager to assign files that you upload via FTP to certain files in your downloads.

I don't understand how the whole Assign Files work
This is what I have - www.amarnatok.com --> Downloads --> Test --> Vober Hat --> And I'm adding say .wmv Episodes within it (It's an Indian/Bengali tv show site-ish)

If you go to Episode 1 - it shows the correct file size but it keep downloading a blank file called 'Natok' (which was a folder I used to have in the tp-downloads) It downloads the file properly in Internet Explorer, but in Firefox it keeps downloading a blank file called 'Natok'. The file is located in amarnatok.com/tp-downloads/Vober Hat/1.wmv
I'm not sure why this is happening, because the Episode 2 file is under tp-download/test/test.zip and that seems to be working fine in both IE and Firefox. Please help

The assignment works by assigning the files to a category. I said files, but I meant to say categories.

Amar Natok > Downloads > Test > Vober Hat > Episode 1 and downloaded the file just fine. I don't quite understand what the problem is your having sorry.

Thanks for your help IchBin, I got it to work - just putting all the files in the original tp-downloads folder instead of a folder within that folder for now.

I have found that's all you need to do. Once you have all the files uploaded through your ftp client go to admin/downloads manager/add category and create all the categories you want the files to appear under then use the ftp tab and assign all the files to the categories you just made.

The download manager knows what file to grab from the server eliminating the need for subfolders to sort your files.
