Well, I figured out a simple little tease for Guests.
When you make your DL categories settings as off limits to guests, when they click on Download in the Sitemap, they are presented with an empty "File Repository" which may say to them,, hmmm nothing special in this board, no downloads.

So I made a special DL category only accessible to Guests, and named it "YOU MUST REGISTER TO SEE DOWNLOADS" and put the largest zip icon, a nice big cardboard box.

Now the guest sees an explicit message and an icon which teases them to register to see what downloads you may have.

Example:  http://www.ps3hax.com/index.php?action=tpmod;dl

when they register, they can't see this guest category but of course can see the authorized categories for members.  Ok, simple, don't shoot me.

That is a good idea, possibly stops the generation of entries in the error log

Try this mod i made- it disallows guests from doing downloads while still being able to view all the stuff in the categories:

even though not fool proof but does the trick for visitors
NOTE: people who know TP internally will be easily able to by pass it

How would one bypass this?

Also, when I upload files and then dl them, my save window comes up with the work "index" filled in for the filename, no matter what file I choose to download.  I have named the uploaded files all differently.

Is the DL manager not registering the filenames in the database properly?  how can i fix this?  thankyou.
