Hey all.   Please offer me some advice.   I started my website 1 year ago and I have many "dedicated" members.   I use siteground as my host and in the last couple of mths they have just gotten unbearable!  There will be times for hours on end that everyone on my site gets whitescreens.  I have tried and tried to tell siteground about this but they always come back to say something inbetween me and them is causing a connectivity problem.  LOL   It's between all of my members too.

Can someone PLEASE offer me an alternative to siteground.   I don't want to lose my members and I want to have a great running website.   I use SMF 1.1 and TP 0.9.7.   I love my site and really want to see it succeed.

Thank you for your time.

I use Elixant. http://www.elixant.com. I have been for a few months with little downtime (maybe a few minutes at most) and good support.

You could try Monte Carlo Hosting : http://www.montecarlohosting.net/ I'm really happy with them and they "specialize" in SMF forums...

I use dreamhost and it is so good that its just amazing!
The bandwidth is amazing and the space is just VAVAVOOM!
They offer quite a lot of services like
- one click installs
- streaming media
- unlimited databases
- no cpu time usage limits (this only applies if the site remains under what would be classified as a site requiring a dedicated server or VPS)
- host unlimited domains and sub domains
- unlimited email addresses
- php 4 and 5 both available
- 24 hour customer service (its pretty good i tell ya)
- your account size increases by month (bandwidth and space both!)

All for $7.95 a month if you sign up on a yearly package
Otherwise it is $9.95

Also They also offer a 97 day money back gurantee!

Here is the link to their hosting packages with all features listed:
http://dreamhost.com/hosting.html

ps: also search the web for Dreamhost discount codes. If u feed those in, ur hosting cost can be redused by a LOT

Like at http://www.lissaexplains.com/
they offer: Need an awesome host? Try Dreamhost and enter promo code LISSA06 for $10 off any plan! Plans start from $7.95

if u want a better discount than $10 let me know I still havent used my discount offering option for the 'referrals' so I could offer u anything up to 20 bucks if u want

I've got my own dedicated server with Flexservers :)
It will cost around 300 euro a month but then I realy have no problems :D

Server specs:

Intel p4 3.2 GHz
1.5 GB RAM
160 GB HDD
OS: Fedora Linux
100 Mbit up/down
1 TB Datatraffic a month (yes, that's TerraByte :P)

And ofcourse I've got root access so I'm in control of everything :D

I would suggest Dreamhost. A friend of mine uses them and I'm also going to move to them when my current hosting plan is over.

I use Cartika, more expensive that DreamHost, but faster as their resources aren't spread so thin.

Thanks all.   I have been looking at Dreamhost as well.   It looks like it is very good..    I might just have to go with them.

I use GoDaddy at http://www.godaddy.com
They offer alot of wonderful features all in a little control panel. Provide you with PHP My Admin (mysql database), sub domains, ftp clients, blogs, yearly/monthly/and daily statistics, and more!

I am gonna move over to DreamHost in a year so DreamHost sounds pretty good. Godaddy might not be as good but it's good ^-^
