How do I know what page I'm on?

Okay - question seems simple enough.

I need to pass a javascript parameter/variable to the optional "html" header section using the Oxygen Theme.

I need the 'header' or pesudo header to 'know' which section of the forums it is in so that I can do something different in the header above each section.

In other words -

IF:

I'm on the main index page - execute javascript A
I'm on the 'forums' page - execute javascript B
I'm on the membermap (if installed) page - execute javascript C

etc., etc

Basically I'm asking the age old question - how do I pass a parameter/variable from one page to another.

If this weren't PHP and generatedon the fly I'd probably write a function - put it in the header and assign some value to the onClick property of the top nav bar (HOME, FORUM, ETC. ETC.)

I've actually done this to have a TTS bot speak the name of each item on the menubar onMouseover.

The TTS bot also speaks a greeting.  Now I need her to say something different for each section of the forum your in - or 'shut up'.  (shut up button coming).

Does this make sense?

In very simple terms - how would I display the last item on the link tree up in the theme optional header?

Thanks much

C
