File Directory Structure

Would it be possible to have the directory structure for the downloads on the server .. mirror that of the structure in TP ?  (or even selectable where the file is located on the server.. be better even methinks)

It will be much more file operations then, with possible permissions problems etc.

Now the "categories" exist only virtually and be be moved/copied/deleted at will without ever touching any files or actual folders.
