Is there any modification out there or any way to ban on specific user from the shoutbox. He has been constantly spamming it with 50+ posts of dicks and it is tedious to delete these twice a day so everyone else can use the shoutbox.

I would ban him but I know him in real life as I do some of the other forum users who are my friends and if I ban him he'll start retarded drama that I don't want to deal with like he did when I banned him for the same thing a few months ago. He takes the internet way to seriously and I don't want to deal with that again.

Any suggestions?

create additional group and call it "Warnings" then ban that group from shoutbox. not ideal but you can give it a try

How do you ban a group?

SmokyBlue

i know a few shout boxes use "/prune" to clear, and "/kick" to temporary ban a person out..

think it was on vB i saw that, a few years ago.. but maybe one of the great coders here could check it out..  :D

i already know this  ;)

i was reffering to the actual of being on the shout box at the time of ban, not the admin area..  :D

I don't have this feature in that menu... Are we using different TP versions. Mine is 0.9.8

SmokyBlue

what im talking bout, is not a tp feature goofyfootejb..

but maybe one of the coders here could implement this for it..  :coolsmiley:

Smoky is right, just double checked, it's the feature of the ultimate shoutbox

The permission you have is the feature on the ultimate shoutbox?

Where would I get this ultimate shoutbox if that is the case and I didn't misunderstand.

Edit: I just found it on smf. I'm gonna see if it works.

and the ultimate has a few issues, so please stick with what you have for now.. ;)

Ya i don't have enough knowledge of php to know where to insert the code for it anyways.

SmokyBlue

i suggest googling for tuts on php, html and css

would really help you out in understanding how the coding works..  ;)

lol I tried that. I know html/css but php made no sense to me and I don't have the time to learn it. I wish I did though, I really want to learn it.

You can set the shoutbox to only be visible to certain groups. If this guy is abusing the privilege, he shouldn't even be able to read it.

I think I'll do that. Thank you very much
