Title: strange shoutbox error
Post by: rollingrock on April 13, 2010, 05:00:47 AM
I did a search and couldn't find this.

But I just installed TP 1.0 5.1 for SMF 2.0 RC2

It was looking great but when I try to mod or use the shout box I get this error

"
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/northtex/public_html/forum/tp-files/tp-modules/TPShout/Sources/TPShout.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/northtex/public_html/forum/Sources/TPmodules.php on line 83"

That is new to me.

Thanks

RR

Does the file that is referenced in your error exist on your server?

Well this is odd, when I get to "tp-modules" it doesn't open on my FTP, it only gives me the option to view it...so I would say No it is not there.

I would upload the TP files then, make sure everything is all there.

that is very odd, I just did a clean upload and install.....so what do I do, overwrite it and do it again?

If you cant open a file through FTP on your server it's more likly a permission issue with the folders and files.
Make sure you can add files manually to your server and also that you are allowed to change them.
Look in your FTP software info window during the upload of the files when you do it manually and see if the files are rejected by the server. If so, you have permission issues and need to change that so your allowed to add files and folders, and also that they can be readable.

So should I remove the files from FTP (BTW, FTW is working fine, TP files have a per of 777)  then reload or manually open the zip and see what didn't go?

Just upload them in one go, overwriting current ones does no harm.

But if you get error of "tp-modules" being viewed instead of entered(as a folder would do), it would seem tp-modules on your server is a file, rather than a folder(can happen during faulty unpacking). So delete that first, some ftp software halts at overwriting a filename with the exact same name as a folder.

Hello Bloc first I am honored to have you post in my thread...  :)   I am a little confused...should I upload via FTP or upload using package manager from SMF?

Thanks much, off to "real work" job.

Upload and replace files using FTP.

ok, I uninstalled TP, then cleard out the TP files on the FTP and reloaded...this time, I have more files...but for some reason now, I cannot see the shout box but I can view settings on the box..i have moved it to the "right" side but it doesn't show...this is very strange.

Check all the settings for the Shoutbox block.  Make sure it's set to show somewhere.  If this doesn't work, create a new ShoutBox block and delete the old one.

rollingrock,

I used to drink that beer on occasion.  That was back in the good old days. :o

Setup a temp Admin account on your site and PM me the details so that I can look inside.  Don't post the details here.  PM me the following ...

RR,

OK, the Shoutbox is showing on your site now but, as I mentioned, you definitely didn't get a good install of TP.  I can tell by all the missing TP images in the Admin section.  LMK if you need additional help on that.

Recap...i did the first install and it didn't work, removed it and the second one worked better but as you noticed its not complete so I maybe a third one?

Or how do I determine what files are not loaded?

rollingrock,

I started writing a message this morning but go sidetracked.  Let's see if we can get back on this.

Your site looks OK, except that you are missing some images.  Until you get into doing verious things with the site, creating blocks, writing articles, etc., we won't really know if everything is OK.

So, here's what you need to do.

Assuming you downloaded the latest TinPortal version to a temporary folder on your C:\ drive on your computer ...

1.  Extract the zip file called "tinyportal1b5-1.zip".  Once you extract it, you will see the following folders ...
common
SMF1
SMF2RC2
SMF2RC3

2.  Also, you will see a file called package-info.xml.  That file is used in the install/upgrade but since you've already done the install, you can ignore that file.  Since you are using TP 1.0 beta 5-1 on SMF 2.0 RC2, you can ignore the files inside the SMF1 folder, so I have marked through that above.  Also, the only files in the SMF2RC3 folder are a .mod file and the tp_upgrade.php, so you can ignore those as well.  I have marked through that one above as well.

3.  So, the files you will be uploading to your site are contained in the other 2 folders above.  In the SMF2RC2 folder there are 3 folders, some .mod files and a tp_upgrade.php.  You can ignore the 4 files.  You will only be dealing with what's inside the 3 folders (Sources, Themes, and tp-files).  The files in those 3 folders should be uploaded to your site, to the appropriate location.  Anything in the Sources folder needs to be uploaded to the Sources folder on your site.  Likewise, anything in the \Themes\default folder needs to be uploaded to the /Themes/default folder of your site.  Likewise, the same for the tp-files folder.  All folders and files in that folder need to be uploaded to the appropriate location.

4.  You will now need to do the same thing with the files contained in the \common\ folder.  The images contained in the \common\Themes\default\images\tinyportal\ folder need to be uploaded to the /Themes/default/images/tinyportal/ folder of your site.  Same with the files in the \common\Themes\default\languages\ folder, which need to be uploaded to the /Themes/default/languages/ folder on your site.

5.  In essense, any files in those folders should be uploaded to your site if they don't exist.

Try to do this, and LMK if your site changes.  You should at least see all the images that are missing.

RR,

WRT your PM, here is an image (attached) which shows what should be in the tp-files folder when you first install.
