I have finally converted all the strings in particulary the TPAdmin section of the mod. So the time to think about some translation has come.
Some people have volunteered to translate and will be credited for their work of course. :) I am grateful for the help, since I only speak my native language norwegian beside english...
But to make things a bit more clear, I will put up a list here with people who have expressed an interest and how far the translations are. Now, currently translations is only part done, since they prior to version 0.7 is not complete.
- german - mplass
- norwegian - Bloc ( 50% done)
- spanish - juanml
- italian - TreviÃÆ'ƒÂÃ,±o / Bradiposid
- dutch - Zvert / burglar ( 100% done )
- chinese trad. - NightOwl
This list will be updated .If you like to translate the strings to a language, let me know.
Underneath is attached the current language strings for v.0.7, but they will of course work with v0.6-0.4 too. Just that not all strings are shown in these versions.
I had just made some translations for my personal TinyPortal in Italian. So I'll be happy to help you in this project by translating your strings in italian.
Thanks and bye ;)
Great! Just take your time and let me know when you are ready. ;) Thanks.
got terrible headache though so it probably contains some errors ???
will work on a better one later this week
Working on it for tranditional chinese. The last one admin is quite a long file to translate :)
The font needs Big5 to be visible. Does it need to specific fonts?

No, it uses whatever is set in the forum..no buttons, just texts. Great that you take on this task, thank you.
Wish I could help but I only speak english. I do have a friend in Finland that might we willing to help If there is a list of just what needs to be done. He did a translation a yr or so ago for our clan website.
Maybe a list of which translations are done, which ones need to be done, and which one's are currently being worked on would be helpful. I have a few friends that I could have help.
Phalin, that would be great.
IchBin, this list in this thread is suppsed to reflect that. It will be more details on it, as soon as I have received files and such. I already have some wich I will just double-check first, but I will also keep in touch with the people who do translations, so they are aware of any added strings(which its bound to be as I have started on the download manager module).
So basically, it its not on the list, it would need to be done. I am not sure how many we should aim for, but the main ones for sure. French, swedish, danish, finnish( although Phalin might help out there), portuguese, turkish, greek...etc. Its of course dependant on what nationality users have.
Ok... I've done it :)
Maybe I'll have to fix something, but I'll be able only when I'll have installed tp 0.6 in my space (I've to edit it, first :P, and now I've no time :))
So, here you are the Italian Language ;)
BYE!!!
Thanks, trevino. :)
I almost translated everything to spanish, Bloc...
I'll pack and attach it here when it's done.. :)
Great! I am almost done myself with the norwegian version..and will also post them here. When the download manager is on its feet, I will use that instead..a bit more structured that one. :)
Traditional Chinese translation is done
I can also do simplify chinese later if I have time.
BTW, it's rather hard to define the term portal in chinese. And it is always retain using english name' portal' anyway.
EDIT: the file attached is encoded in BIG5 which doesn't compatable with smf which is using utf-8. Now is deleted.
I only know English like one of the previous posters, so I am of no help here.
But kudos to those of you who are translating, and super-kudos to Bloc.
Well... I just finished the translation to spanish for TP... :D
Packed, sent and set
Bloc: there are few words that I didn't change (for instance "on", "off", etc) because it's a common and obvious use. Anyway, if you need anything else, just ask here or by MSN. ;)

Here is the workable and compatable version of Traditional Chinese conversion
The old one is deleted.

I've try the translation and seems it doesn't work throughly. Bloc please check if that's something i've screwed up or not. Or does those files only works well under the new version portal.
Also, the title names of blocks now is impossible to make dual language changes according to language setup. Can this be done with some extra codings?

No, the strings will only work fully in the next beta. In the version you have most are not extracted into language files yet.
Titles in blocks? They don't need to be in language files, you can easily change the titles to whatever you want in "edit blocks".

I see, that was worrying me after a hands on testing on those translation. I also guess that's the reason why it's partially works :)

Yes, they can easily changed by manual. But I mean dual language board. If I have a board for both English and Chinese users, then it can only stick to one.
ah, I see. If it were in language files they would automatically be the right language, since SMF takes care of that.
But I have made the blocks very generic - in that you can switch easily between them, and therefore left the option of what titles to use , up to the user. So you don't HAVE call online users for "online users", but rather just anything.
What I mean is, can those be stored in SQL with language preifx. So each language fetch from it's own language settings.
If they are defined as $txt['tp_online'] in both tportal.english.php and tportal.chinese.php they will be "right" for the selected language. But if you need different titles depending on board, its a little more complicated. You have to check where you are in SMF, and when in the right spot, change thsoe values.
I would rather suggest making two online blocks, and set one to show only at board={english-id} and the otherat everything BUT board={english-id}.
This is not possible right now, but thats what i aim for in the beta7. More freedom in where the blocks show and not show.
Meanwhile you might do some checking in TPortalBlocks on whether $context['tportal']['querystring'] contains "board={english-id}" and then do an if statement to show the english title or the chinese...
That could work.
Here is the right version of the dutch language there where serveral error's in TPortalAdmin.dutch.php
