I am new with smf and portal thing
I am trying to upgrade my forum so I want to uninstall my portal
upgrade and then install again
how ever when I go to uninstall it tells me those
Error messages in red and recommending that I should not continue bla bla bla
./index.php
./Sources/Load.php test failed
now what can I do ? I am stuck here
on the other hand I tried to search in your forum but no results
please help me
Just upgrade the SMF and then reinstall TP after you have upgraded. When you upgrade, all your mods will be lost anyway, so no need to uninstall them before you upgrade.

well I am confused again and in simple machine every body is so busy
in download section of simple machines there are two files
one is full and one says do you have modifications do not worry
for upgrade download and install this one!
I do not know which one to download or upgrade confused ,
The big installer is for upgrade from 1.0.7/8/9 and the update is if you have 1.1rc3 installed.
All of them replace the SMF files in your forum, so all mods WILL be gone from the files.
Ok I have SMF 1.1 RC3 want to UPGRADE to latest
this is what I do I simply download the big new smf install.
I install every thing like installing a new smf
after installing I just again install the tinyportal.
Question: Do I have to remove smf DB? or install new one will overwrite it?
will a fresh install delete all my members and posts or the new installation will just overwrite the necessary files ?
No, you download the small update package, not the big or full install.
Extract the package, upload all the files to your forum and then point your browser to update.php and you are all done.
Make sure to BACKUP your forum and db first though.
You just need to install the upgrade, don't delete your Database.

instead I ran the webinstall.php and now it says I have an illegal copy of smf so please help me with this
I want to start from scractch. I have a back up phpmyadmin
so I am going to remove all related DB,
Install a new smf
then restore the old DB
my question:
I knew how to backup with phpmyadmin but do not know how to restore through phpmyadmin
When I do "uninstall" all my mods on SMF rc3 first, including TP 0.96, wonÃ,´t my DB tables and all I did so far in TP, like Blocks, be gone too ?
Please let me know. I wonÃ,´t update til i know.
And one other thing, I still always mess that up in my head. When I do use in my case the small Update to 1.1Final of SMF, I do need to execute the upgrade.php anyways or only when I do the larger update ?
PLEASE, can someone clear this up for me so I donÃ,´t do the wrong thing ? PLEASE !!! ;)

When you Upgrade SMF all your mods will be gone, so no need to uninstall any mods before you upgrade.
The forum will go back to all default and you have to add the mods in after you upgraded. And just as a note, start with Tp as it's probably the largest mod you will install to your forum, it's easier to apply smaller mods by hand if nessesary then TP

This answers some questions, thx. But unfortunately not all.
- Will I loose my blocks, my articles and all TP related Stuff in the Database when I uninstall TP 0.96 ? Because I donÃ,´t want to loose all that.
- Do I have to use the Upgrade.php after uploading the SMF1.1 Update (small) Files to execute the Update or only when I do the bigger Upgrade, since there are 2 kind of Updates.
Could you clear this up for me too ? I would appreciate that.

Ok, one thing is cleared then. ;) So uninstalling TP at all will not make me loose any of the DB stuff of TP.
As i said, NO, you will not loos any data what so ever during the upgrade, the installers simply add and update the DB, it wont delete anything
