I am not sure that having TP installed, allowed me to do this successfully or not; however, moving to a new host, I was unable to dl a copy of my files and keep the structure.  As a last resort I decided to install a fresh copy of SMF and import my DB to see if this would help...also using the repair setting file... I was able to login to a mess!

I then decided to start over, and install smf and TP as I also had that on my last site... Bingo!  With a little searching of the forums here, I was able to manually set my settings.php file and login to an identical site!

All the directions on the smf, did not help me.  I do not know why, perhaps I was not understanding the techs writing.  I just wanted to thank TP for not forgetting about us newbies, and for  explaining things in a manner that we can understand.  Techs and Devs sometimes forget, as they grow in knowledge, that the terminology they use is so foreign to a new person.

Thanks for helping me out TP!
My VB conversion did not go this well! lol  but thats another story.
Thanks for speaking in plain terms :)
