In, "Article Settings"---->"Use visual verification for comments in articles?"

Set to "Yes", works.
Set to "No", errors out.


When viewing articles with verification "OFF", you can see the "not defined yet".

Yes, it was reading the setting wrong. Fixed for v1.0 beta5.2
