Download Manager Upload Problems

 I've been having problems with the DL manager. It keeps timing out whenever I upload large files. I figured it was a limit on php uploads. So I installed php5 and changed the limit 26M.

I'm still getting time outs and no one seems to be able to figure out the problem.

Could be an HTTP limit too. Check your apache log and see if it gives you any info on that.

I don't know anything about php setup. Can you be more specific?

I thought this was an original issue with SMF, and been an outstanding issue.  That is why we have the option to upload and just create the file and then upload via FTP.  Am I wrong, or doesn't everyone have this problem.

I know i could upload unlimited filezises on my old host through the downloadmanager.
On PhilHs server i THINK i have unlimited to, and i have uploaded a file thats 9mb through the manager and it worked ok
I also know that the time taken to upload needs to be adjusted to when you set the manager to upload larger files

it's definite a apache / php thing - depends on how long the upload script is allowed to be active, the php upload size (there is a parameter for that in the php.ini) - and how large a file is allowed to be (not only setted in the smf config, but also in the php config)

Can you post an example script for upload time? I don't see it in my php.ini.

is it something like "max_upload_time"?

What I do is make a heading with name and no file attached. Then I ftp the file and make the connection in the download section. I can include some pics if it will help explain. I have files in excess of 40MB currently that work fine. (gaming maps)

I increased the max_excution_time, max_input_time, memory_limit and everythinmg works fine now.

Sorry to bring this one back up, but  a little confused myself......where is the php.ini file located at specifically??? sorry for being an idiot, but do not see that in my forum folder anywhere......Thanks for the help

You may not be able to see it because it's a server file and so it may only be visible to your host.
