Short sessions... need to login often

I asked about this on SMF but it seems like a unknown problem. 

On my forum (v1.1.1 TP 0.9.7.) I am sometimes logged out after only a few minutes and am required to log in again. I've seen my two IP connections at the bottom of who's online. 1 guest, 1 member.

I'm running the forum on my own web server which is running xampp, latest versions of apache, mysql etc. When I installed this forum I did manually copy some of the mysql database files into the new mysql folder so I could use the previous content (posts, members, articles etc).

any suggestions?

Is it just you? Or are others sharing this problem? You try the usual empty cookie/cache?

all users are experiencing the same problem.

I think it may be something to do with TP.

when I visit my site on the Home page is says I need to log in, however if I click on fourms... it already has me logged in.

after about 5 minutes you may see it log you out of the main page. and sometimes you may noticed the duplicate ip's in the who's online... from a member/guest.

I took a screenshot just before when I saw it happen to one guy... notice mickpoore... he is logged in twice, once as a guest.

How long till it signs me out? This may need to be brought to the attention of SMF, since this would be a smf problem.

I'm not 100% sure. usually its when I am browsing different parts of the site and then I notice its asking me to sign in again... or just like right now...

I came back to the computer after about 15 minutes (did some chores) loaded up the browser and when I loaded the TP Main page I wasn't logged in. I then clicked forums.... and it said I was logged in. When I went back to the TP main page again from there I was logged in??

could it have something to do with folder directories... I did previous use the sub domain xampp.swisshut.com but am now using burnt.swisshut.com both these sub domains point to the same directory on my webserver tho. hmmm.

I am not sure on that one, perhaps if you ask on the SMF site you may get the answer you need there.

hmmm something strange just happened. the standard theme is the dark one. I selected another theme which is light.

after I closed the browser and gave it a few minutes when I loaded the TP Home page it showed me with the dark theme, saying I need to log in. However when I clicked on forums (like before) it signs me in automatically and reverts to the theme I have chosen in my profile.

I think it happens everytime I close the browser and load the page.

I figured out the root of the problem!!!

http://xampp.swisshut.com/bforum/ (keeps login details)
http://burnt.swisshut.com/bforum/ (doesnt keep login details)

Initially I had the forums on xampp.swisshut.com

When I changed I went into admin center and changed the server codes to relect the new URL: burnt.swisshut.com/bforum

It must still be in there somewhere! but where...

I changed the test profile to use the light theme. If you login using those details try each of the above links and you will see my problem.

nope... no idea on how to fix it

Edit: I noticed the forum URL in the admin center was still xampp.swisshut.com/bforum

maybe that was why. will be able to tell in a few minutes im sure.
