Error code

Running smf 1.1 and now to 0.97.

Installation went ok but i keep getting this error message and which is filling up the error log
at a great rate of knots.

8: Undefined variable: whichbar
File: /home/ownforum/public_html/ownforum/smf/Sources/TPortal.php
Line: 279

Any idea as to how to correct it please. I tried uninstalling/installing TP but to no avail.

Thats a bug that will be fixed for the update thats about to be released

Has the release that was upcoming on Dec 11th been released? (I am a new user so I don't know if there was one between then and a few days ago)

I just set up a new test forum SMF1.1.2 using the Default theme and used the fixed version of TP0.971 that installs okay with 1.1.2- downloaded it around 3 days ago.  (March 12th)

I don't know whether the update that G6 is referring to is included in this TP version but I have found the same error is occurring on my setup.

As I am sure the coders know, this is only occurring for user accounts, not for admin.

The package you downoaded from IchBins sticky post were only updated in the XML install file. And not the package itself.
So what i meant by updated version of TP is the next release that will come when it's ready.
However, if you do a little search for that error, you will find a quick fix for it.

I've had a search and am unable to find the fix.  If you could point me in the right direction i'd be much obliged.

Seriously - I wasn't being lazy - I did do a search for the error including the word "whichbar" and this thread was the only one that came back in the results.

I have noticed on my own SMF forum that quite often the search routine completely misses really obvious searches that you would expect it to catch.

archie, remember when using the SMF search if you are in a board it will only search that board. You must either go to the frontpage of SMF or choose the advanced search to bypass that feature.

Thanks I knew that but I still have some problems finding things sometimes, even things that I KNOW I posted, just forgot where I put them - A bit like my sock drawer

The search caan be quite frustration some times, i use it like 500 times every day on both here and on SMF to be bale to give you answers to your questions.

What i usually do is to open the forum index page, where all forums and childforums are visible, then i open the advansed search.
Then eather I copy the error string (if the one that want help have posted his/her error from the log) and start and end the string with *searchstring here* 70% of the times i get a hit or 2 . If i dont get one, i shortend the search term, still from the same place and in advansed.

You have to use what ever word you can think of, and even if the hits you get are close but not the answer it self, many of the hits will have links to posts that do have the answers


As this topic have been answerd to, and the issue from the topicstarter have been resolv, and the fact that i changed this one to solved, i would like to keep this thread clean now, just for the fact that it will turn up in a search, with the answer, and you wont have to read trough 30 pages of posts to get to it.
So please respect that when a post have a green "solved" mark on it, DONT post any other question in that thread.
