Help identifying what is used in this website?

I was wondering if you guys could help me figure out what was used to make the news section on this front page http://www.acquiredtaste.net/index.php .  I thought it was simply a lot of articles that are going down the middle but I couldn't recreate it.  Then i thought it looked like a lot of blocks.  If it is blocks how can we make so many down the middle like that? 

Also how do you make it so theres several pages of these blocks/articles?  They have 3 pages of these news announcements.  I'm still REALLY new to websites and smf/tiny portal, It's probably a really simple answer that's on a sticky somewhere but I didn't really know what to look for exactly  .  Thanks for any help again.

They are simply articles.  You can continue adding articles to your site for the same effect.  Set the number of articles to display on the front page to set up the pagination.  Then just keep adding articles.
