Hi Bloc... First I want to say I love your Helios theme... have it on 2 sites ;-p
So I saw Helios was on MkPortal... and I came here... and then I saw you don't use MkPortal but rather something you are building as a mod for SMF... well... COOL!
So I have set up and run a Mambo site... and an MkPortal site... and I set up a Xoops site for a couple weeks to see what it was like... I have used PHPbb and SMF. I am not a pro... but not a newbie either... basically I know what I like now.
I would like to see tiny portal with web links... the way Mambo does web links

(Other domain is http://www.dangermice.com)
MkPortal's link system is currently... not so great... you need catagories IMHO.
Almost EVERY community has links... so how you manage links on a portal is pretty important.
Now... I know NOTHING about how to program this stuff... but I am half way decent at logic...so let me toss an idea out there that makes sense to a non-programmer like me.
Make SMF build a special "sub-forum" and this sub forum is called "links" and there can be "child boards" which are actually catagories. The "links" are actually the name you want the link to show as.. and the body of the post is actually the URL. You then program it so if SMF is in this "links" sub-forum it operates on different rules... and it displays this section differently (ignores author etc) and when you click on a subject/link it automatically reads the body of the message where the URL is and opens it in a new window.
Now once again... I am not claiming this would work... I don't know anything about programming in PHP or SQL... let alone SMF and tiny portal.... but it's a concept.
Now... another thing I would like to see is advanced profiles.
I have been thinking for a while now I want to build a website where I can track my family's addresses etc... and have it be a website for the whole extended family.
Some of these people don't use PC's... BUT... they still exist... they still have phone #'s and physical addresses... and even e-mail at work (they just don't surf from home)
It would be nice if SMF was allowed to track
1.) physical addresses (like 1234 mockingbird lane, smalltown maryland 12021)
2.) 3 phone #'s (home, work, mobile)
3.) TWO e-mail addresses (work, home)
Now all this info should be hidden unless you are a member of a special group that is granted access to "contacts feature"
AND... I would want an easy way for an admin to create a "dummy" SMF acct... where no one really signed up... and no one validated... but yet I can still populate the address and phone # etc.
This would allow an admin of a "RL group" or "RL Family" to manage our contacts better.
Anyway... I appreciate you taking the time to read this.
Bloc, you know how to get ahold of me (my e-mail is valid) if you need any clarification or just want to talk about possible features.
P.S. your online users icon seems to be missing http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/Themes/helios_multi11_tp/images/TPonline.gif
Thanks,
Chris
Sorry about posting that in the wrong board to begind with... I was surfing through suggestions saw this hadn't been suggested then started cruising your notes in the news to see if it was something you intended to add... I then FORGOT I was in the news... assumed I was still in here and posted.
I locked my other post since it didn't want to delete.

Actuaully a 'LINKS' block, where the admin inputs the address, and a title, and TP sets up the html for the link and sets up a table for all links would be cool. Catagories could be an option.
The other items suggested can be done within SMF allready.
Just create a "Profile" Board, where each contact can have thier own post topic. Set permissions locally for the board, and / or create a user group, with permissions for that board. You can make some members Moderators for this board, or allow any member to edit posts.
Klemvore , PM me if you want more clarifications on my post.
I second a nice collaspiable links block.
