Title: No "Forum" link and missing mods after install.
Post by: skeletonkiss on October 22, 2006, 02:25:53 PM
I had global announcements, smfarcade, and several other mods that were all working fine until I installed TP. I did the manual install, and edited the index.template.php file myself so as not to screw up any mods, and it still somehow managed to make them all dissapear, despite them all showing up as installed/applied on the package manager.

Also, there's no "forum" link anywhere!
What did I do wrong?

Which TP version and SMF version?
A link to ur homepage wil be useful as well

Did you make changes to the default theme manually or attempt it on some other theme?

Also, did you go all the three steps you have to take in order to make the manual install ?

1. Upload all files from the manual install package

2. Copy and past all the code needed manually in to the SMF files that needs to be alterd ?
( If you downloaded the premade files, you will loose your other mods as the files in that zip package are from a clean 1.1rc3/ 1.0.8 with TP )

3. Pointed your browser to the manual_tp_install.php ?

I figured out that the mods got overwritten on some files, and I'm redoing those. But I still don't have a forum link. I've done everything right, tp works fine, just missing the link to get to the forum.

Is there a snippet of code I'm not seeing that I need to add to one of the source files?

Look in the index.template.php file in the default theme and see that you have the button code (forum) added there.
And if you have the "forum tab" but no text, please check so the actuall forum text is added to the Tportal.english.php file in the language dir folder

Crap. Now it's doing something else weird. When I set it to hide the side/center bars while in the forum, it hides them on the MAIN (index) page too. And the main 'welcome' article thing isn't showing up.

You need to upgrade the portal to TP V.096, It have been fixed for TP V.096

If you downloaded the TP V.096 the first day after the release, you need to clear your browser cache and download the package again from the downloadestion and update your fiiles on your server.

I'm using 96, as far as I can tell. Do I need to update the code in the php pages again?
(And is there something that tells how to do it manually instead of just giving you the premade files? I have a ton of mods installed I dont wanna screw up again.)

There was some fixes done to Tp V.096 that Bloc have updated with, and one of those things are the blocks, so if you want them working you have to download and replace the files again  :-\

Okay.
Well, do you know WHICH files were changed, so that I don't have to go through ALL of them and redo them? (Since I'm adding the code to the files myself, due to all the mods I have installed.) Like, for example, if JUST the index.php was changed, I could JUST redo that page. Etc.

Tportal.php file was the one he posted for more test before the updated pack ended up in the download section. So try that file firts from the package there.
