Title: TP 9.5
Post by: Pox on October 12, 2006, 09:14:21 PM
I'm having an issue trying to upgrade TP to the newest version, for some reason it won't let me upload the package. Now I don't know if that has to do with SMF as my forum, or what. But I would like to get the upgrade done to stay current with every aspect of my site.

Any help here would be grately appreciated.

The error that you're getting would be most helpful. Also, SMF version, Theme and Version. Follow the posting guidelines in my sig if you'd like your help here to go swift and painless. :)

For starters, check the permissions on your packages folder.

Sorry about that. :)

TP isn't even showing anymore, so I am not sure what is going on there. I have a friend helping me with this, which further adds to my confusion. It also timed out for him when he tried installing it as well.

This is the error message I got when I initially tried installing 9.5.

Fatal error: Unknown function: tp_loadtheme() in /home2/techno/public_html/smf/Sources/Load.php on line 1021

I'm using Metallic Aybss theme for SMF and TP, SMF version is 1.1 RC3

You have missed some reading before you upgraded. Always good to read the documentation before change of any file.

1. you have the wrong theme for TP to work after the install.
2. you have missed to set your forum to DEFAULT SMF theme before you installed TP in the irst place.

so

1. Set your forum to default SMF
2. upload the package again and run the installer to the default theme

If you cant get to your forum, download the manual install package, and read the documentation for the steps you have to do to get TP installed.

Then remove all the themes you have in your theme folder EXEPT the default themes that comes with the SMF package.   After you have installed TP to the default theme, download the new themes for your version of SMF and look so you get the TP themes

Okay, thanks for the help. I'll do that now.

The issue wasn't the theme she was using...for whatever reason once I finally got SMF to upload the package to do the install, many of the files from TP did not upload properly...I had to manually transfer the files from the zip through ftp to fix the problem.

The edits were made correctly to the SMF files, it just glitched when putting the files in their proper place.

Curious though, why was it that TP had to have no themes installed other than the default ones to install?

tp only modifies the index of babylon and default

so if the theme dosent use the default index then people start to panic

I know that.  The theme she was wanting to use was already modified for TP.  The issue was that when I uploaded the package for her it kept timing out...once I deleted all themes but the three core ones it uploaded and installed, but then I found out that the files for TP only partially uploaded...oh all the files were there, but chunks were missing out of the files and I had to manually upload them through ftp to get her forum to function again.

that may be a server related issue - dont really know for sure

cos personally i have about 12 themes and reinstalled TP (freshly) on my site only yesterday (after the 0.96 caused the side bars to dissapear) and had no issues at all

ROFL...Ya, that is why this was such a mystery to me...I have done that and more with my sites with no errors, so when hers did this to me I didn't know what to do at first...
