Title: TP problem with default theme
Post by: Ronlx2 on October 06, 2006, 03:35:32 AM
Well I'm having a problem with TP install. I have one forum running RC3 with TP and 11 mods with no problem. My other forum is a RC3 upgrade from 1.0.8 and has all mods running but the problem is with installing TP. When installing TP it installs fine to babalon theme which was the 1.0.8 default but it comes up with a fatal error with the default theme of the now RC3.

I hope someone here has a coding answer since I love my TP on my other forum. I have had luck making all my mods except links and gallery compatable with babalon but would prefer to have the TP answer to installing on my default.

Hope I made sense and posted in the right place.

In the FAQ and Docs there's a post that shows you exactly what code you need to add to your files. That's how you're going to have to do it.

Been there and done that. Guess I didn't say I spent days on this site and others trying different things. Tried the codes in FAQ for both rc3 and 1.0.8 and it still came out the same in that TP only works with babalon and not the default rc3.

It may be that upgrading 1.0.8 to rc3 is not a complete upgrade and TP runs home to mommy with this kind of install.

Really so far I'm having better luck re-writting the other mods to be compatable with other themes that TP will work with.

I understand that rc3 is new and TP is a complicated program I was just hoping this would of been something simple that has been run into before.

When you have other mods installed like that there's no easy way of getting around it. If you want to keep your mods installed there's no other way.

And also, when you say you have upgraded to 1.1rc3 from 1.0.8, the mods you had installed there, wouldent they have to be replaced to mods build for 1.1rc3. Many mods are diffrent between the SMF versions, so if you have upgraded the forum to 1.1rc3, you have to update the mods to fit that version to.

What I can tell you is when upgrading my one forum from 1.0.8 to RC3 the only mods that didn't continue to work was the txt11 enlarger and TP. All the rest worked fine. And TP still works if I switch the theme to babalon which is not the default theme.

I was just hoping for something simple but knowing that TP touches about every file in a directory that may just be imposible. Well in the time it has taken to get this far here I just about have the other site ready to transfer the database and deal with that problem.

This is a great site and TP is a good portal that makes me enjoy SMF so much more than my phpbb site.

TP does not touch every file in the SMF directory, far from it actually.

You simply have to reinstall tp to your site.
Eather through package manager, or the manuall install.

TP only change 8 files in total, then it ADDS several more folders and content, but they are separated from SMF

If you want to go the manuall way, just download the manual install package, extract the files, upload them to your forum and thn download the zip file forom the installations board (a sticly post there with premade files for easy install) extract the zipfile, upload the files overwriting the old ones, then point your browser to manual_tp_install.php and you should have TP ready to go there.

For the other mod you have to seek help from the site you got the mod from.
