ok, i am making a website that doesnt need a forum, but i want to use tp and its blocks for my content management because i have gotten used to it and really like it. what i need to figure out is how to remove some things from the main screen that relates to a forum since this site will not have a forum. the tabs and such i can remove, but i want to remove the "welcome guest" section that has unread posts info and login stuff, and remove the news and search part. below is a picture of what i am talking about. if part of it cannot be removed, then i can remove all of it and use link navigation in a block instead of tabs but what i was looking to keep was forum name and logo area, the tabs, then remove where it says welcome jack show unread posts...etc etc, and remove news: and search part.
now, i know there are cms apps out there i could use instead but as mentioned i really like tp and i am not ruling out the possibility of a forum being added later so if there are edits i can do to remove these things then re add them later that would be great. any suggestions?
Tp will not work at all with out SMF forums, so my guess to your answer is No go at all.
i have smf installed as you can see by the picture. i want to use tp so i need smf installed but i want forum related stuff removed from the tp mainpage.
jus find the code for the forum button in index.template.php file and remove it
bearch for "button" until you see the forum button code
i know how to remove and add the tabs, what i want is the rest of it removed......the parts above the tabs and below the logo.
find and remove this

dont remove the '; at the end of this tag which exists in the file oki cos thats the closing statement for the echo' at the beginning so if u remove the '; then ull get a parse error
Admin -> TinyPortal/Settings -> 'Show userinfo/news at the top' - No.
he will still have those links in his userbox on the side
he needs to get rid of those too - just keep the forum man :P

And if he's using .95 he just unchecks the 'Unread replies/unread posts' box in the Edit User box.

hmmmmmm......was that in the other versions of tp or just .95? i dont know much about this new version as i just installed it for this new site.
thanks to both of you for the help, that did the job. i thought i was gonna have to do some manual editing, so i guess thanks to bloc as well! ;D
ok, two little things left and i have been through the settings several times with no luck in finding them. how do you remove the breadcrumb? i found the setting to show as text instead of link, but i want it gone completely. also, i will search for it because i think i have seen the answer before, but how do you remove the upshrink on the tp mainpage?
edit: ok, i did find the removing upshrink buttons so now i just need the breadcrumbs removed :)
BLAH! it amazes me sometimes how the simplest of things can be so damn hard to figure out. :uglystupid2: just remove the forum name and breadcrumb disappears.
all has now been answered and figured out so this message is completely solved. now to add blocks and content to finish the first tp site i have done that has no forum to speak of. it looks kinda wierd right now with no content, but someday bloc should look into making tp version that is stand alone. ;)
