Thanks Thanks Thanks!!so much
Hello? :tickedoff:
Tiny Portal comes with the cool side bar things and you need a Tiny Portal - converted theme in order to see them.
You know, this is not a chat room. It's a message board. Becoming angry if someone doesn't respond within a minute is not going to do any good.
No one gives an answer to this post for 24 hours !
Patiense is something we value here, and you sir, missing out on that totally, 1 min between the first post and the demand of an answer....
Please be patient and you recieve an answer with in 24 hours from now.
And if you cant wait, please us the search or the browser to find your answers quickly as you want. ;)
Ok sorry!
Where can I get the tiny portal converted them.
If anyone can this time post a message or email me at brianjw@verizon.net! Thanks :)
The side bar is a feature of TinyPortal. You can get the cool side bar things by installing TinyPortal. :)
And if you want to know what and where TinyPortal is do a search around this site and you'll find all the information you need.
thanks but i downloaded a theme and didnt get the sidebar?!? :)
Did you install Tiny Portal?
Did you get a theme that works with Tiny Portal?
Have you set up any blocks within Tiny Portal?
Can you give me the link to the place where I can install Tiny Portal :)
Thank! :-)
You're on the site. Look at the top of the page. You should see a link to "Downloads." That would be a good place to start.
I saw a place where you can download seprate blocks but im no "genius" at coding so I was wondering if I can download a theme with everything loaded on to it onto my smf!
QuotePosted by Brian. Visit my website at Brianjwilson.com/smf. Have a nice day! Oh and btw TINY PORTAL ROCKS! :coolsmiley: (http://www.brianjwilson.com/smf).
I had this error at the very bottom of my board. Nothing big but its worth fixing:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tportal_version() in /home/content/b/j/w/bjwilson/html/smf/Sources/Load.php(1040) : eval()'d code on line 311
if you would like to see the error scroll down to the bottom of the page of brianjwilson.com/smf !!! thanks, Brian
Someone would have to modify a theme for you with the mods that you have installed. I am not sure if anyone is up for that but it never hurts to ask.
Your first step (the very first step) would be to read up on TinyPortal and what it can do for you. You want to have an idea of the cool things you will be able to have on your site after it is installed. Make note that the current version of TP available (and being supported) is TP 0.9.5. This version works with SMF 1.1RC3 best but also SMF 1.0.8 if you already have that version of SMF. If you do not have one of these versions of SMF installed, you need to upgrade (suggested version is SMF 1.1RC3) "before" you install TinyPortal.
Your next step, install TinyPortal on your SMF site, and learn to use the basic features that come with it. Use the DEFAULT CORE theme on your site for awhile, so you can see how things are "supposed" to work.
Your next step depends on whether you are looking to play around with the themes, or blocks. If you decide to play around with themes, make sure that you ONLY download themes that are made for both TP and SMF. There are a number of themes out there which have not been converted yet, and they only support SMF on its own. You do NOT want those. Try installing maybe 1 or 2 TP/SMF themes and ensure they are for the correct versions (as I pointed out above).
Once you have done that, you can play around with other things because you should at least understand how it is "supposed" to look, so that if something doesn't look right after you have installed some other Theme or Mod or Block code, you know what questions to ask. :)
I moved this to its own topic because it didn't belong in the topic that you had posted it in.
And now I'm going to do something I have never before done in 8 years of helping people on message boards. I'm going to shout.
YOU HAVE TO INSTALL TINY PORTAL FIRST IN ORDER TO USE A TINY PORTAL THEME
TP offers good themes for the public to use! O0
Thats awesome...
Im just curious on how TP admin made it so if you click home it goes to a non forums based page...Thats awesome and i want to learn how to do that! Thanks! :smiley6600:
First you have to learn to follow the instructions that are given to you by others who have experience.
Then work with small projects for a decade or so and you might learn enough to begin to approach a project with the wide scope of something like Tiny Portal.
:D
Are you experienced and maybe can guide me through this :D
I have dowloaded the new version of tp but how and where do I load it on? ^-^
Anyone?
You use SMF's built-in Package Manager. If you are unfamiliar with the Package Manager in SMF, you should read up on it in the SMF documentation. Many interesting things in there that you will want to know for anything you install in SMF now and in the future.
If you haven't installed Tiny Portal, you should not be posting in the Themes area. Tiny Portal is a modification of SMF, not a theme. After you have Tiny Portal installed and working, then you can install a theme.
Go to the FAQ & Documentation board and read how to install TP.
First install Tiny Portal.
Then install Tiny Portal theme to "see" the effects of Tiny Portal.
Yes, please install tiny portal first.
LOL
No one can guide you through something of that magnitude. That takes development technique and years of experience.
You need to first learn how to use the product, then you can delve into tweaking. But first, you must read all the documentation available on both SMF and TP. Because they are both elaborate software products and require some effort on your part to learn how to use them.
Unfortunately, no one here is paid for the support and help they provide. This means that the little valuable time that the team members have needs to be spent on support and issues, and not on teaching. Taking a class is very expensive for a reason, it takes much time and effort on the person doing the teaching. ;)
TP is set up to have "frontpage", that's why you see that page(home) before the forum.
brianwids, I think that you need to take a LONG read on this site if you have so many questions. All of your questions are already answered. This will help us in not having to answer every little question that you have.
Correction!, The very first step would be to learn use SMF forums, Then learn the mods you want installed, Like TinyPortal for an example.
hehe.. thanks Sis... I was assuming he already had a working SMF site..LOL, but yes, very correct - must learn how to use SMF first, because you'll need that to know how to install TP into it in the first place. :)
The very fist step, is to learn english (or one of the languages the SMF and TP sites are available in) :2funny:
If you want to get technical, fine motor control should really be first!
This is the third topic you have floating around about this. It has already been explained to you.
Please install SMF, then TP.
ok, i seriously need how to install this tp package manager...
Also, I downloaded tp where do I load tp onto? :P
thanks
