This is a new release for all beta-testers to try out. Do backups, and be sure to test it out on non-important sites first - if you can.
Features:these things are now in:
- Front blocks. These show only on frontpage, and can be viewed instead of articles/forum posts.
- More block types.
- SSI functions built-in. Just choose your function and add one or 2 parameters
- RSS feed. Supply the address to the feed
- Userblock enhanced with online users and stats
- PHP in articles. Currently its either pure html - or pure php.
- Navigation now works in articles area too.
- News section in TPadmin
- One package for SMF 1.0.5 to 1.1RC1 , and upgrades any previous version of TinyPortal - from 0.4 to 0.7.3
..plus numerous other bugfixes and small enhancements. The install/upgrade routines now check if you are missing any tables or settings, and updates accordingly.
Languages:For languages to use with this package, see this thread:
http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?topic=867.0
Manual installation:http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?topic=927.0
Possible problems:-
On RC1 sometimes the TP files will not get copied through package manager. the mod seem to install fine, but you get a error screen when starting the forum again. in that case, use the manual install files and upload the TP files. Most cases the SMF files are correctly modified and database tables installed. Only the TP files are wrong.
-
failure on installation of TinyPortal. As a rule: don't install it if
failure shows up, TP will most likely not work and/or the forum stop working because of incomplete installation. Most usual are failure in index.template.php - in that case you could get away with installing a TP specific theme and use that, or upload a un-modified index.template for your SMF installation.
As always, any feedback is appreciated. :)
I will give her a try on a fresh install and a running system ( test )
Got themÂÃ, :)
Thanks Bloc
this error come
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tportal_init() in /kunden/72203_26736/xxxxxxlinuxsoftboard.de/index.php on line 168
Is this an upgrade or is it a standalone?
I am using the previous version. Can I download this through package manager while my other one is installed?
Getting failure through the Package Manager, are there any themes compatible with SMF RC1 I could get here?
ich have over package installer, but then come the error msg
Read the post guys.
try to solve your probs first before u start to scream about errors. ;)
Looking forward to it...
Please post your errors in a different thread. It will be easier to keep track of errors and how they happen. And more importantly, how they are fixed. Bloc I think you should lock your TP threads for this reason. :)

This will be my first upgrade. I will be upgrading from TP 0.6.5.
What method should I use to upgrade to TP 0.7.4?
Manual? Package Manager?

I upgraded through the package manager without any problems, though it was an upgrade from TP 0.7.3, I'm not sure if you can upgrade from 0.6.5 through the package manager...
Mine is working fine now also.
This release will:
- upgrade from any previous TP version 0.4 up to 0.7.3 :)
- install first time on any SMF version
The only time you need to upload the files manually(the second archive) is when you have problems like mentioned above. For some reason TP files sometimes will be zero in size - and give errors.
ghostfreak, bogus - check that TP files is indeed there, and that they are not 0 in size. If they are missing/0 in size, use the second archive to simply upload the files through ftp.
upgrade went with no errors however I got the blank window again-- just copied the files over and all was OK

me too
Ray/Bogus, you guys mind posting as much info as you can about your setup? What type of server you're on? Operating System? Versions of all software? etc.....
All,
upgrade from 0.65 to 0.74 with success.
failure in index.template.php was shown and i ignore that ( no risk no fun ) After that all my frontpage settings are gone. But it is only an issue from the new structure in 0.74 .... i mean
After edit the blocks and the settings for the frontpage my site looks like bevor.
Have a look: www.kite-lounge.com
Only Problem: The calendar.....as bevor. I can not edit the fixed entrys for the american "holy days" like the labor day. in the calendar.php i can not found the entrys. So i think this days are located in another file.
Cheers

Hi :)
Great work Bloc, many thanks.
I upgraded from SMF 1.1 Beta 3 to RC1, then applied TP 0.7.4 via package manager.
Nice and smooth, everything went well and boards are working just fine.

Sounds good....but SMF 1.1(+) will work with the neptune package ...or not ? Neptune looks pretty good for me and i donÂÃ,´t want to change this to another themes or the default theme of SMF
cheers

i found an odd little bug. xD
it seem sthat if you cahnge your theme with the themechanger block, it doesn't save it. so if i was using default and then i switched to blue101 using the block, once the session ends (log out, browser close) and i go back to the site, i'm back to default theme again.
any fixes?
log in doesnt fix it ?
Sounds like your overall forum default theme is another one then what you are using
Are you still logged out at your site? Make sure your SMF board is set to default the theme that you want.
installation went smooth for me :)
thanks Bloc!

Are you un-installing TP first? You don't need to.

Yes, this was forgotten..the old code was replaced, but it needs more work..basically I was planning to add a preview of the theme underneath, that changes when you choose a new one.

ah i see. :)
i was kind of wondering why the theme autochose itself when selected. xD
oh, changing the theme normally through your profile saves the settings. :)
it's working fine for me even if i had a failure in index.template.php on Package Manager
As long as you have a tp theme you should be alright.

No I'm not un-installing TP first, but a really weird thing has happened. I have a test site exactly the same as my main site which I obviously use for testing installs/updates etc, and the TP upgrade worked without a hitch. Its only when I try the upgrage on my main site that the problem occurs.
I assume its down to file permissions - I'll have a check through them.

Yes it does work. But not without errors in the log I believe.
work .....but not without errors ?
so it "works" not for me I think. Did we have no stable upgrades for the neptune ?
Cheers
ReD
Neptuen works in bet3 just fine. It also works in RC1, but you will see errors in the error log because Bloc has not updated all of his themes to work properly with RC1.
Will we, or do we already have an upgrade that is compatible with the Helios multi theme?
Mark
Bloc will be updating all is themes to be compatible for RC1 of SMF in the near future as he has stated in many other threads.
Excellent! Everything runs without problems! :) :) :)
PS: I am finish with the german language files, soon! :)
Thanks for the release Bloc :)
I really like Tiny Portal. :P The newest release is awesome! The addition of php articles adds a lot of possibilities. :D
Glad you like it. :) Now you got the building blocks..maybe not all php code will work as expected..but still a lot should be possible.
It work very well for me...Good Job Bloc... :D
Wonderful job :D Just did the RC1 and TP 0.7.4 install and it went just fine!
The only errors i'm getting are the templates. Can't wait to see updates of those :)
I don't see any other problems so far.
