Oooook...
I must be the queen of issues...
So tonight a friend asked me to help her setup a RC3 with TP. I installed the RC3 from scratch. Nothing on it. Not a single post. Not a Mod. Nada. Downloaded a fresh TinyPortal v0.9.5 and uploaded via package manager. Apply Mod resulted in Descriptions all blank. Literally. Nothing there. No Failed. No nada. I got curious and went on. Nothing to lose, reinstalling a blank board was nothing. Well. Nothing useful happened, but then the TP would not uninstall either saying was corrupted or not compatible. What is this?
Defiantly file permission errors from your host server setup.
Eather you have to change the permissions to the files that TP want to chang during the install, or you have to go with the manual install of TP
At this point, you have nothing to loose there.
So i suggest you erase the entire thing including the DB tables that have been created, then install 1.1rc3 again and check so it works, try to make a post and create one board.
If every thing seem to be ok.Download the manuall TP install package.
Extract, and upload all thee files to the forum.
Download the ready to go files form the sticky in the installation board here, Upload them to your forum and overwrite the old ones AFTER YOU BACKED THEM UP!
Then point your browser to manual_tp_install.php and you should now have a working SMF and TP portal
What files should I CHMOD?
Im not going to list up them all, Check the Documentation board and see what files the manual install changes.
Start with those, but you will still have the SMF folders that needs to be changed.
Better start over and do the manual install, much faster then sitting and chmod all files.
Try and let the SMF FTP fix it for you.
Package manager ftp and then put in your account for FTP there and try and see if SMF can change them for you
OK this is puzzling me....
I reinstalled everything... CHMODED all I could see... dumped her old database... then... screenshots as it follows, uploaded TP, tests, no failures (YAY!), installed... nothing changed :/ tried o uninstall... corrupted... *rips hair off*
Still file permissions problems.
Go with the manuall install package now so you can get your portal up and running instead of ripping your hair out ;)
Download the manual install package
Extract the files on your local machine
Upload the files through FTp or Cpanel
Go to the sticky post in this installation board and fetch the files i have premade with the correct codes in them.
upload them to your forum manually, and then point your browser to namual_tp_install.php and you will probably have your portal.
Some servers just dont work with the package manager cause of the permission issues
i'm going to try your solution now, but do you know if there is issues with using the utf8 encoding in the database?
With TP its not working quite well, and Bloc is working on it, I also think SMF have some troubble with it to, and they are also working on it
ok, my site is going to be in norwegian..so i want to use utf8, but is it possible to go for the regular setup now, and make it utf8 later, without a reinstall?
Im not sure about that, Atleast i havent seen any where that the settings can be changed after the install is made.
Perhaps in the Database and PhPMyadmin there is a way, but nothing i have looked for yet.
Perhaps a good Idea nd see if it is possible to change :)
MÃÆ'Ã,Â¥ste bara skriva pÃÆ'Ã,Â¥ Svenska efter som du sa att du skulle ha ett Norskt forum :)
You can post in the Scandinavian forum to if you want :)
Both me and Bloc can give answers there. Bloc in Norweegan and me in Swedish :)
ÃÆ'Ã,Â¥h?! kult! :)
