For all the dummies out there like me I have this simple question please;
I am currently running SMF RC2 and TP 0.8.6 and want to upgrade to SMF RC3 and TP 0.9.5.
I have tried to do the upgrade on my test site first (yep I learnt from the past) however it got screwed up and it looked like two versions of TP were installed. And that wouldn't work!
So: do I uninstall old TP first ,then upgrade SMF, then install new TP?
Or: install new TP over old TP first, then upgrade SMF?
Or: ....
I have gone through the docs and faqs but can't find anything that suggests the sequence. Any assistance appreciated...
1. Upgrade SMF first to 1.1RC3. It will erase any trace of TP in SMF files, but not touch TP data.
2. Install TP0.9.5 , it will detect the old data and change the new SMF files.
No un-install of TP required.
Thanks Bloc.
Did that twice now on my test site and the screen shot below shows what I ended up with.
Two copies of TP and as you can see TP hasn't fired up (no admin menu) and no blocks, etc.
Any ideas.
Thanks again.
What errors did you get during the process ?
None at all. Went in perfectly.
Can you give me a temp admin account in PM to your site so i can have a look ?
You have only TP V.095 installed, Tp V.086 is uninstalled there according to your screenshot
Yikes! Hit a big one.
This is my login screen following upgrade - now I will cry. The chardonay isn't working any more!
hi guys
I already had updated tp from 0.86 to 0.95, but i had forgotten to check in tinyportal boards how to upgrade smf to Rc3, now i have my site with smf 1.1 rc2 + tp0.95, how can i update smf to 1.1 rc3?
???
ok i was trying to ask if it is possible upgrade smf 1.1rc2 with tp0.95 to smf 1.1rc3+tp0.95 without lose any data?
how should i do it?
The only way to do is to upgrade SMF to RC3 and then install TP again.
I installed Tp for him manually, he have a working site now 8)
but at this moment if i uninstall tp will i lost data?
(should i create a new topic?)
thanks
You will not loose any data if you delete your install of TP
And yes, i think it's better if you start your own thread, as the author of this thread have a working forum now ;)
