Hey All!
Ive just been informed by a member of my site that they are getting a strange page result after login instead of the "home" page, they see "There are no articles in this section yet? error screen and none of the normal "tree" links...see attached pic...and this coincides with me adding the member to a new group, which has exclusive access to a new board on my site.
When I remove the member from the group...everything goes back to normal.
Ive login under their screen name and verified that it is not just something on their end and also it appears to be the same in all themes.
Im running SMF 108
TP 086
Checked the error logs and found this associated with the member :

8: Undefined index: boardnews
File: /home/.............../kbkustoms/forum/smf/Themes/default/TPortal.template.php (eval?)
Line: 61
Any Ideas???????
Thanks!!! I appreciate any help to resolve these issues! :)

go to your tp admin area and set the permissions for ur new member group to be able to see everything that means all the blocks and everything
hmmmmm.....thanks, and maybe I misunderstood your suggestion, but I dont seem to have seperate permissions for membergroups within TPadmin????
no if u go to ur blocks u will see that each block has membergroups permission in them
u will need to set those
aaaaaahh.......says the blind man!!!
I get it now.......lemme check that! :)
Thanks!!!
I do believe that was it!!
THANKS AGAIN!!!!
I guess it only affected this member (that I know of) because they were not in any other usergroups other than the one I put them in yesterday.
Can I say......DOH!!!! LOL!!!!
Next time you make a membergroup base it off ungrouped members and you won't have any trouble.
no problem

Ya know...I have to admit that I am still a bit unclear as to what exactly an "ungrouped member" is compared to my other groups that go off of post count.
You see, I have a group for brand new members (zero posts) that only has access to three boards. But as soon as they make an intro post, they go to another group (1-10 posts) which allows them basic access to the majority of my sites content.
Maybe you could explain how "ungrouped" would relate to this scenario. I dont want members with zero posts to have basic access, so that what Im afraid of I guess, regarding the ungrouped members.
Sorry....went off topic here.
THANKS AGAIN!
There are "primary membergroups", "secondary membergroups", and "postgroups". A "ungrouped member" is a person not assigned to a "primary membergroup" or "secondary membergroup".
So basically, a normal member of the site is a "ungrouped member". Regardless of "postgroup" status. If a person isn't logged in, then they are a "guest".
