Title: I need some help
Post by: Greenbug on August 28, 2006, 06:55:56 PM
As usual I tried to update my forum to rc3, now I get this.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tportal_sidebar() in /home/tcmorrow/public_html/americasforum/Sources/Load.php(1702) : eval()'d code on line 360

can I recover from this?

before I got this error I found three installations of TP 6,7, and 8.6. neither of which looked to be installed per the package section but I was definately seeing TP.

:uglystupid2:

Whoa are you serious?

Don't take my word for this but... Look in phpmyadmin and just rename the backups. I never did this before so don't use this...wait until someone else says something cause I'm semi retarded when it comes to being technical and repairing stuff.

Great the blind leading the blind.

Thanks for your input though, I am barely a functioning moron at best myself.

LOL

Cheers,

Then after you restore the database, upload the smf files and edit setting.php to reflect the database settings and run the repair_settings.php script available on the downloads > convertors and tools page./

But again don't listen to me I'm semi retarded.

OK im psyched, let the healing begin!   O0

Now to restore the database.....

I think I missed that part of the instructions

Do I delete the new database files, then re-name the backup file removing the "backup_" part?

If you download the manual install package and then make the copy and paste part on to the files that need to be changed you are good to go again.
All the tables and content is still there, but as you have uploaded new files and upgraded your forum, the files with the TP code needed are gone.
So just put the code back to the files and you will be good to go :)

alrighty then, just fit this square peg into the round hole and your done! was'nt that easy...... :o

I did as you said, but I am a bit hazy about the "copy and paste part on to the files that need to be changed"  Part somehow I think thats some what important?

Did you read in the post that I am am functioning moron, well I have to revise that to say I am a complete moron? obviously I am am not functioning anymore. Just a moron!

I say this with much humor, its not life threatening but it is frustrating.  :'(

Cheers,
GB

My honey to the rescue again. :D

Jpg, if you don't feel comfortable giving advice I would suggest you don't. :) Although your advice wasn't really that bad, its just easier to leave people that "know" what they're talking about to solve the issues. And as usual, G6 is on the case.

I have a rename.php utility that someone at SMF made, you edit it on your own PC, ftp it to your site, mine is in my backups folder then run it from your browser. I also have two very useful files created by [UNKNOWN] create_backup.php and restore_backup.php. These will create and save your d/b to a folder on your site. There is a download option in it but I prefer to ftp (set sql to ASCII mode transfer). The advantage restoring them this way, is that there is no limit on file size.

I'll try to upload them to the download manager, all zipped together.

Thanks to all that replied, jpg was the first to reply and probably stoped me from droping the whole db. Thanks! jpg

But of course Mrs G6 is hopefully going to "save the day"

Just think when this get fixed we can all sit around the campfire and talk about this little incident and how funny it was. Of course the story sounds better if it gets fixed first.

Moron +1
I can make a really good Taco casserole, I forgot to mention. Yum Yum!

Thanks in nokonium, Lets see what Mrs. G6 can do first. But it does sound interesting.

This is the files that you need, and the code are already in them so just upload them to the correct place (MAKE BACKUP OF THE OLD BEFORE YOU OVERWRITE THEM)

1.1rc3 and TP V.086 Manual install files fixed.

Index.php <---- forum root folder
Index.template.php <---- forum/themes/default/

the rest of them in your /forum/sources/

And again. Dont forget to make backup of the ones you have there now first.

I've uploaded them to the download manager, currently awaiting approval, if anyone wants to use them.

OH yes, take my work  :knuppel2:     :2funny:  :2funny:  :2funny:

I have fixed the forum now though, hope you will fix your theme issues and be happy with it after that :)

You are awesome!
YES it works good except for the right side blocks. For whatever reason I deleted the blocks and re-installed them published them but they still produce duplicate right side block beneath the forum.

Any ideas what would call the right side only blocks up twice?

Nevermind, unless you did something I uploaded the oxygen theme (after I cleanup the theme mess I had)  and the problem is no longer there?

Thanks again!

Fel updated her blog module for both .9.5 and RC3, so it should work.

Her site should be the primary place to ask questions / get support, though, not here.

Thanks,

I think I will wait for now, enough excitement with the forum for today.
When I do try it I will direct my questions to that forum.

Yes, thanks, G6. It's been updated to work, but not released, yet.

Exactly ;)   The next she will release is 0.80 and that is the release for 1.1rc3 and Tp V095 "Public"  :)

OK, I got my forum back (thanks Mrs.G6) but now the left side colunm is funny. There is a big space between the center blocks and the left side.

This is it www.americasforum.org any ideas?

Thanks,

I don't see the space in IE or FF but that's not a first time :)  It's probably one of your blocks. Disable all the custom blocks and see if that fixes it. If so, you can enable one by one until you figure out which one is causing it. Probably Recent topics is my guess.

Thanks IchBin it was the Scrolling "today in history" block. I dis abled it and its fine now.

Looking at it I dont see a width but I do see a height, is that right?

This is what is in there

$my_height = auto;
$today = mktime();
$today_day = date("j", $today);
$today_month = date("n", $today);

$request = db_query("SELECT pn_yid, pn_content FROM nuke_ephem WHERE pn_did=$today_day AND pn_mid=$today_month ORDER BY pn_yid ASC", __FILE__, __LINE__);
if (mysql_num_rows($request) > 0)

   {echo '<marquee bgcolor="transparent" scrollamount="1" direction="up" loop="true" width="100%" onmouseover=\'this.stop()\' onmouseout=\'this.start()\'>';

        echo '<div style="height: '.$my_height.'ex; overflow: auto;">';
while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($request)){
echo '<b>' . $row['pn_yid'] . '</b> - ' . $row['pn_content'] . '<br />';
}
                echo '</div>';
        echo '</marquee>';
mysql_free_result($request);
  }

Used from the snippet forum.

Well its fine now, this thread is getting way off topic. If anyone has a suggestion I am all ears.
