Title: PJIRC Chat mod
Post by: Moocat on September 04, 2005, 11:00:08 PM
on my site i have tinyportal installed and PJIRC chat mod. when i click the chat button, it opens a new window, like it should, but the screen shows the helios colors and only the top navigation bar. the screen is also littered with fatal errors. The chat applet actually appears and works fine, just the errors are really bothersome. here they are:

Notice: Undefined index: TPortal in /home/xxxxx/public_html/forum/Sources/Load.php(1500) : eval()'d code on line 240

Notice: Undefined index: TPortal in /home/xxxxx/public_html/forum/Sources/Load.php(1500) : eval()'d code on line 259

Notice: Undefined index: TPortal in /home/xxxxx/public_html/forum/Sources/Load.php(1500) : eval()'d code on line 386

Notice: Undefined index: TPortal in /home/xxxxx/public_html/forum/Sources/Load.php(1500) : eval()'d code on line 388

Notice: Undefined index: TPortal in /home/xxxxx/public_html/forum/Sources/Load.php(1500) : eval()'d code on line 390

Notice: Undefined index: TPortal in /home/xxxxx/public_html/forum/Sources/Load.php(1500) : eval()'d code on line 399

Notice: Undefined index: TPortal in /home/xxxxx/public_html/forum/Sources/Load.php(1500) : eval()'d code on line 409

This leads me to believe that the problem is with the TP blocks, but i dont know how to get rid of the errors.

Yes, the PJIRC template might need to include the call for tportalblocks. I have to check, it might use the "wrap" template function in SMF.

Ok, its nothing to do with blocks, its the fact that it calls SSI.php and render its window through that, that cause the problem, because it tries to get TP info, but are not able too.

As long as the mod is done like this, there is no apparant solution I am afraid.

Although by looking at the code I would assume it actually could work in a TP article - the only thing you need to do is to insert your path to the applet. Becuase php code is ONLY used to get the path - and that you can insert yourself. The rest is pure HTML code - which gets the java stuff of course.

If you want to try that route, let me know.

What do you mean by a "TP article"? I simply want it to display the blocks around it and no other errors, but if that isn't possible, its at least good to know that i don't have to try and fix it! :)

thx for the advice

What i mean is that you could simply use a article to display the chat applet - meaning blocks etc, will work fine. Just an article without category will do. I will have to try it out, so i am just curious if you want to try it or not. :)

it sounds like something that might be a bit too small to hold the chat applet, as it has many tabs and such at the top, and my blocks are about the size of yours on the <<< side.

I have been fiddling with chatboxes as well, Pjirc is nice but I've found a new chat option with streaming VideoÂÃ,  and audio support. The video's are really fast. Nothing have to be installed because it's all build in flash.

But the best part is that it's bridged to SMF :)

Go to our  test site  (http://www.funandgiggles.net/smf/)and find the chat button at the top. I'm sure you'll like it.

If you put it in an article it will display it right in the center, not in the blocks.

i still don't understand what you mean by an article, like a news article? if it would show up at default size in the center, but not on the forum index or home page, only when you click the button, it would be awesome :)

EDIT: never used that feature before, but now i figured out what they are. actually kinda useful :) i would love to know how to implement this into an article :)

ty for help!
@domp: thats pretty damn cool, but i'm specifically looking for an IRC one :( where exactly did you download that? it looks pretty useful :)

The site for that room  here   (http://domp.libertinia.com/gallery)

As for Pjirc.... at our main site we have Pjirc integrated for the trivia we are running. Go to  FunandGiggles  (http://domp/libertinia.com/forum) at the right site is the trivia block, press the link and see how we integrated Pjirc  :)

Any chance an explanation of the article concept could be given? PJIRC is the best java IRC out there, and its strange how so little help has been given with it here.

Just make a link:

<a href="http://somesitethatdontexist.com/irc/" target="_blank">TEXT TO DISPLAY</a>

Or, if you just click the Maximize Window button in the top right corner of PJIRC, next to the Exit/Close button, That should also popup a seperate window.

thx but,
The window should have no menu bar, tool bar  etc and the user name should be submitted as it the chat.template.php makes.

You didn't say that. The way I read it.. PJIRC, separate from SMF (not integrated).

So, actually.. you want an integrated popup? .. If thats what you mean, I have no idea as mines not integrated with SMF.

No worries, I couldn't sleep last night.. was a bit grouchy at 3am  :uglystupid2:
I'm not sure you can, at least not without a lot of coding in the popup. Somebody else may be able to offer some help.
