Not sure whats happening but when I try to install tiny portal I get taken to an error page :-\ The standard internet this page can not be displayed page.
It uploads,just don't install :(
Package manager works - installed other mods then unistalled them just to check ???
Any idea why?
I installed it a while ago on my test forum , not a single problem
I've tried on my live forum over and over but it just won't install
All the file permissons are set the same on both forums , both are the same smf version ,both on the same server, both had the same mods (I even removed them on my live forum though now).
The only difference I can see (although I'm no expert ) is the way the files are numbered.
On my test forumwhen I check list files they read 1 - 170
On my live forum they upload as 1-99 and .00-.70
Is that the problem? If so any idea how to fix it?
No idea how thats happening since I used the same downloaded version for each and even tried redownloading TP and retryed uploading it.
edit - opps , I'm useing smf 1.1RC2
found this info
QuoteDownload the manual install package and upload all the tp files from that package to your forum, overwrite the existing ones.
Then download manual install (database only) and upload that to your forum root directory and point your browser to that file.
Seems like your files didnt get uploaded and extracted correct
installed then ran.
and it said
QuoteUpshrink table created
Settings table created
Blocks table created.
some sample values were added to the blocks table
Variables table created.
Articles table created.
DL manager table created
TinyPortalÂÃ,´s table structure is now installed/updated.

Thank you for trying out TinyPortal.
but no tiny portal ???
no admin options nothing
tried useing a tp theme (amber) and only get the header and this message
QuoteFatal error: Call to undefined function: tportal_sidebar() in /home/cjexotic/public_html/yabbse/Sources/Load.php(1607) : eval()'d code on line 217
Sounds to me like your missing the modifications to the SMF files that needs to be done. If you've uploaded the "Files Only" package and ran the manual_install.php file, then I would check to see if the SMF files like Load.php ManagePermissions.php etc. have been modified by the TP mod. If not you may need to make them manually unless you can get the package manager to actually make the changes.
Sounds like TP isn't fully installed. Pretty much what Ichbin is saying...
what was on the error page? Did you get "test failed" on anything when trying to install to package manager?
Have you edited the files with (copyed and pasted) the code needed for the manual install to take effect ?
Quotewhat was on the error page? Did you get "test failed" on anything when trying to install to package manager?
No , I couldn't get that far :-\
The error page was saying - Page Not Found - you know the page you get going to an invalid website - thats what I got over and over and over. The package manager just wouldn't even go to the screen where it says test/fail etc..
Once I clicked on apply mod -I got a long slow load attempt then it went to a page not found page - out of the package manager and out of smf just the white page with black letters :-\
on the manual install - it claimed to install but did nothing.
So.......... I wake up this morning and just click apply mod again - for the 80th time and guess what it installs ! :o
How? why? :tickedoff: I have no idea , changed no additional files , used the package that sat in the package manager since last night, yep the same one that refused to work.
The theme that wouldn't work , works now , added another theme just to make sure it would upload and work and it does
Everything seems to work now :)
not sure why but I'm not going to complain that it does. Just confussed at what the whole problem was :-\
Aarghhh,... :buck2: I got the same problem at once. It had worked and after editting something in the admin area for tinyportal My whole forum wasn't appearing anymore. The page not found thing.
Although the database was still there as ssi_php was still working properly. ???
Then I deleted everything on the server and installed the whole forum again. Then it worked. Then installed TP again and it all disappeared again. :o
Maybe I'm doing something wrong but still believe I'm doing like I did the first time and on my testforum too.
Next time you get a blank page or something like that post a link to your site so we can see. And if you want, you can send me your FTP info and I'll take a look to see what is going on.
Thanks a lot for your reply IchBin... I will do so one of these days. ;)
Right now I tried to install it again and it gives now no forum anymore. :(

IchBin have said that you can send the ftp info login to him so he can have a look.
But my guess is that your files are not set to the proper permissions, so they are not readable
Now Sometimes it does appear and sometimes not :D
I will send him the info when he's online. ^-^
I think the error is in the index.php thats created by the install file. Because when i upload the original index.php of SMF the forum appears again (I mean the index.php in the main forum folder). Including with the Portal functions.
Check my white page at: http://www.muziek4um.nl/index.php
The index.php with portal becomes like:
I deleted the big bunch of code as there was nothing wrong with it.
I don't see anything wrong with that file. Its probably something else that is causing this. Removing that file might return it because your taking TP out of the loop with SMF by removing the index.php file. PM me whenever you're ready today.
YEAH!! People People,
I have some great news!! :2funny:
The error was caused by something, namely the last 5 custom blockcode snippets (shoutcast) I had added.
I deleted them from the database and everything runs smoothly again.

Probably it was in the last one I installed but to be sure a delteted them all and I will start again doing then one by one and maybe not more then 4. :uglystupid2:
Thanks to IchBin for the advise.
