Title: Directory
Post by: claudek on August 02, 2006, 05:10:59 PM
I want to add a directory (my site is specialised so it won't be very large) on a block on the front page. Is there a module or a method that you all can suggest to implement it, please?

Sorry, but I don't get what your asking. You want to "list" a directory in a block? Or do you mean like a member list directory? You can use the "team page" module for that I'm sure. But I don't know about listing it in a block that would require it to be customized a bit. Which do you mean?

claudek, or do you mean one like I have on my South Gwent Ramblers site ? (see sig)

That was made using the menu manager which you will find in the admin part where you manage blocks.

Yeah, a web directory - think yahoo or any web directory. I would prefer to have that on my front page rather than as a seprate page on its own. I will have a look at the menu manager and see if that will work. Please let me know if there are other options as well please.

The menu manager unfortunaletly didn't work out. The listing all goes to the left side, so I can't have like 2 or 3 columns of equal width for eg, they always gravitate towards the left.

Anyone have any more ideas? Am wondering if I create a directory html-wise, but then I think I lose the "open in same windows"?

You can write your own HTML (with options of opening in the same window). Put your HTML in a block or an article and you're good to go.

You can use list code to organize it or something.

Done that - had to use the javascript/html block. Is there an easy way to add the "breadcrumbs" menu to such a listing or does it have to be put in manually?

To have it like you want, its pretty much a manual thing.
