Title: Space AGAIN.
Post by: youngjoonshi on July 29, 2006, 05:01:46 PM
Well, I am getting quite furious now with this. It is the third time and as always, there is a big space between the left hand side block and the center block. This is only true if you view it via Internet Explorer.

Having turned on and off all blocks, I found out that it was the recent topics block causing this problem:

Also, the all block's title below it are smaller than usual (but it didn't got fixed by deactivating the recent topics block)

So...how would you fix it?

Find and remove

style="white-space: nowrap;"

From TPortalBlocks.template

Probably a good idea to check the style.css for your theme as well.

YJ the Recent Topics block is NOT causing any gap after you did what nokonium suggested. I had checked your site both before and after the change.

The Google search block is causing the gap and the calendar block causes a shift to the right.

You are asking the same things again. The solution for Recent Topics block and the notice for the Google search block and the calendar block was given to you recently in the serial topic http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?topic=5732.0

Thanks Agridoc, I was just about to post a screenshot with IE at it largest text size showing which left block is causing the problem.

Yeah I know but I can't understand why it is always happening...

How can you make the Google search block stay in it's place?

Also, what has the calendar block to do with this issue(?)

Move it to the left panel and you will see  ::)

you need to change the input box for google to a smaller size!

Well yes, that's what I did. But the problem is that it enlarges as well when you enlarge the text...

Then reduce it a bit more  :)

In your Google search block find
<input type="text" name="q" size="25" maxlength="255" value=""></input>

Put string input size="20" and check. Play a bit with this number.

Well, that doesn't fix the problem.

The text field still enlarges as you enlarge the text in browers.

As agridoc stated, you have been helpt with the exact same issues in two other threads.
Follow up on them from the first post and try your way through.
This is pointless to give a third thread with support on the very same issues you have over and over again  ;).

Just make it short enough so it will not go out of borders with a logical letter size.

Exactly that. So there is no real fix on this. If a user enlarges the text big enough, it will still pop out.

Well never mind, thanks for the help anyway,;)
