I'm sure a lot of us have customized v0.8.6 just the way we want it.
Are you going to have to complete un-install v0.8.6 in order to install the latest version, or will there be a couple of files that need to be updated ?
i believe it will be just overwriting the old tinyportal files????????
There will be several ways to install the next release.
Clean install for both 1.0.7 and 1.1Rc2 through package manager
Upgrade from both SMF versions with TP V.086 through package manager
Manual upgrade from TP .V086 on both SMF versions
So basically the same as from TP V.075 to TP V.086 :)
In this next release there are install guides on what files to add remove or change in every file needed in HTML with diffrent colours for easy viewing what to be changed added or replaced :)
God I hope so.
I made Nexus-TP (modified) my default theme, so TP is very much woven into my site.
I really hope I don't have to un-install everything, every mod, every change in the coding in order to get the latest version to work. If that's the case, I'll probably stick with v0.8.6 ...
Oh, good news G6.
Just remember to backup EVERYTHING so you don't have to worry. :)
Yes, I plan on backing everything up twice. I'll have a .gz of everything on my entire domain on my website, and I'll have everything (original) downloaded to my local machine, and I'll have a second copy (modified) on my local machine.
I've put so many hours into making my site look the way it does.
I've even modified some of the TP files themselves, so it's gonna be especially interesting for me to upgrade.
Use a compare program if you can - that way you see what is new in there.
Doing clean up now in preparation of upgrade.
Just curious, so the database is not touched at all in the upgrade?
Oh yes, it is. But you can use the manual_tp_install.php to just update the database.
Ok so does that only "expand" the database? I mean, if I un-install TP package to install afresh, does it remove my data?
No, it doesn't. It only expand on it, yes. :)
