Title: Upgrade Question?
Post by: crip on August 23, 2005, 12:24:08 PM
Question Bloc?
If I were to upgrade my Forum to "(SMF 1.1 beta3)" would I also need to update TP_ to suppport the upgrade?..I'm currently using TP_ version 0.6.5 and SMF 1.0.5 -?

Thanks - :)

You will need a different version of TP for the beta3 SMF forum yes.

It won't work fine on your default theme. I noticed that Bloc's TP themes worked for the most part. But he has updated them for reasons in some code change between 1.0.5 and 1.1 beta3.

This is a tricky one...basically you need to apply the smf1.1beta3 version of TP0.65, BUT leave out the database upgrade.

If you need it i can assemble a mod that doesn't upgrade tables - only apply changes to SMF files in your now upgraded forum.

Thanks guys,
yes Bloc, I would like to have that Assembly mod - but what of all your themes IÃÆ'ââ,¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ,  have on, will they be OK or would I need to get the SMF 1.1beta3 versions of each theme?ÃÆ'ââ,¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ,  ..... Tricky..I bet so - Lol..

But thanks for all the replies :)

I would think its better to update the themes as well..if you haven't modified them, it will be easy, just upload them and overwrite current ones. They are the same in look and features, just SMF code is changed here and there.

Of course it can tale some time if you have ALL the TP themes... ;D

I will attach the mod that you should use in this case, to the TP0.65 thread.

Hi Bloc,
I did the SMF 1.1.3beta upgrade successfully and TP_1.1 and all themes but blue101 Theme, it's works well with the upgrade, but it isn't the SMF 1.1 beta3p version of blue101..question is - should I leave -as is -ÃÆ'ââ,¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ,  since everything works, or should I also update the blue101 theme from the 1.0.5 version of it I have up and working very well - as is - or update it also to the 1.1beta 3p, I figure if it ant broke, don't fix it? :)

Thanks again,
crip~

ps. Forgot to mention the Juno_TP looks excellent on my forum!!

Although it's not going to hurt to run the old version, there are a few code changes from stable to beta versions. If you don't have any problems with it, I would suggest the change.

I had to UN-install  TP v.0.6 because of the upgrade to SFM 1.1 RCI and I keep trying to re-install TP v.6 and package manager keeps saying ERROR -> You cannot install "any" packages because package director or one of it's fies are not writable<-...thats (False) because I have tried 755) 777) 666) 644) and get the same error...

Does anyone know whats up with that?..a fix?

Thank you,
crip~

0.6 is not meant to be compatible with smf 1.1rc1, so it should work when 0.7.3 comes out (sometime this week?)
:)

Hi guys!
I'd like to know the whole upgrade process from 1.0.5 to 1.1 (I have the forum and TP)
If I uninstall TP before the forum upgrading I will lost all my content. What I have to do?
Title: Re: Upgrade Question?

Don't uninstall TP.

1. just upload the upgrade package for SMF and run it. TP will not be visible, BUT the data will be still intact.

2. run TP through package manager again, it will detect any previous data, so you should have it up again in a snap.

Hey- I have a quick question.. how do I DOWN grade  to SMF 1.1 RC2 from 1.0.7?
There is hardly anything available for 1.0.7 and Im having issues with the default theme anyway.. so if anyone knows how to downgrade.. please.. fill me in.. Thanks

I guess you drop your DB tables and install SMF 1.0.7?
Title: Re: Upgrade Question?
Post by: bloc on July 25, 2006, 06:55:43 PM
"Downgrade to 1.1 from 1.0.7" ? errr....is that upgrade then..or did you mean to 1.0.7 from 1.1?

In any case, downgrading from 1.1 to 1.0.7 is not possible, too much has changed in db tables.

Post by: goatlady on July 25, 2006, 07:13:35 PM
well I assumed it would be a downgrade... but thenyouknow what they say about assuming..
I thought the latest version was 1.0.7??
But I see most everyone is using SMF 1.1 RC2 and I Thought I saw an UPgrade from SMF 1.1 RC2 to 1.0.7 ?? I could be wroing.. wouldn't be the first time and prob not the last  ;)
It just seems like not much is available for 1.0.7.. which is what I have..
Can you enlighten me? Thanks for the help..  I keep getting an error in my default theme when I click on a post
It says:

Template Parse Error!
There was a problem loading the /Themes/default/Display.template.php template or language file. Please check the syntax and try again - remember, single quotes (') often have to be escaped with a slash (\). To see more specific error information from PHP, try accessing the file directly.
You may want to try to refresh this page or use the default theme.

I can use the "Amber"theme but it has minimal errors but at least it works even though not fully.. (I know it was not made for 1.0.7)
TIA for any help goatlady

1.0.7 is the "stable" release of smf at the moment 1.1rc2 is beta but most people use that because theres a wider range of mods and themes for it , and if your using a Amber theme that was made for rc2 on a 1.0.7 forum..........well your obviously going to have problems , my advice : upgrade to rc2

Oddly enough, the Amber theme is what works with the least amount of issues at the moment.. it's the default I am having the most problems with.. what is the easist way to change from 1.0.7 to 1.1rc2?? Which download do I want to use? I've been messing with this non stop for 3 days now..  I recently changed from phpbb because it didn't do what I wanted it to do.. I haven't really been able to push my forum as of yet.. and I would like to get it going soon..  but not before I get all the snags worked out.. ;)

Again TIA for any help

I believe all you have to do is download the upgrade found here http://www.simplemachines.org/download/index.php?thanks;filename=smf_1-1-rc2_upgrade.zip (http://www.simplemachines.org/download/index.php?thanks;filename=smf_1-1-rc2_upgrade.zip) then you should be set.
