This morning I was fixing to come in here and see what was new, and I happened to check the shout box and saw this little message, asking the same question, when is the new TP going to be available? All right, now I can understand how come some people are so eager to see the new release, but let me say something that I think might clear the air about it, and the funny part is, that I have nothing to do with when it will be released.
Everyone knows about NUKE, and knows that almost every month a newer version is always released to the public, with this said, every time they release a newer version everyone who is using NUKE will run and update the program and then after they do this, this would be about the same time all of the forums around the net will start seeing this little message, â€Ã...“Having a problem with the new version, getting a lot of errors, need helpâ€Ã, Why does the new version have so many errors? Because they release the darn thing before it can be fully tested, people just can’t wait, and to hold on to their customers, the programmers will release the newer versions and let others figure out the problems as they go along, and before long you have every Tom, Dick and Harry, rewriting script and the list goes on and on.
Personally, right now, just because there is a newer version in the works, it doesn’t mean that it is going to be released that quickly, it has to be tested, and tested and again tested, and I don’t think Bloc or anyone the people working on the newer version wants to release it until it is fully tested and 100% error free, and if it takes a few more months, or even another year, it still isn’t going to affect anyone’s forums they have now, just because something is new, doesn’t mean that you have to have it right at this moment, I say this, when it is ready to be released, it will be released, but you can take this next statement to the bank, the new version when released, you can bet it will be right, and easy to install, and then when it is 100% ready, it will be released. And then they can start the whole thing all over again.
These things take time, so relax, cut back on the coffee, kick your feet up, and just enjoy what you have for the moment, better things are to come.
It will be released when its ready, not before. There's no point releasing a version that has known bugs in it. Once they are fixed, and Bloc is happy, then it will be released to the public, not before.

Um I think that is what I was saying, but in a different way. I am not looking or asking, I was only making a point. However maybe I miss understood your reply too.
I think he was adding to your point Robert. Well said mate.
I would like to add something.
Bloc does work a little different than alot of dev's I seen. Bloc actually listens. When someone mentions a little tweak, even if it's just cosmetic that makes the software more friendly, Bloc tried to implement it.
In alot of Bloc's releases there hasn't been many errors, most just common/overlooked mistakes. But Bloc takes the time to listen to teh testers when they say, "hey it might be better this way...", then Bloc thinsk about and decides whether or not if it really is better that way. If it is, he'll change it.
I don't think realizes he does it, lol. He makes more "better" changes to TP than error fixing. There may be 5 erors, and he'll fix them and make about 12 tweaks, lol. That's a good thing folks.
Let the testers and Bloc work the magic. It'll pay off in the end, trust us. Know what I do when I anxious for a new release? I work on something else...
Try finding scripts, block codes, themes, etc etc to get you by until it is released. It'll make easier on you. Well, it works for me that way...
I will also add something....
People who are always complaining about why the new version is not out yet should learn to appretiate the efforts of Bloc who has given everyone a portal to use for free along with a pelthora of excellent themes as well.
So rather than add to the pressure by always asking "when " "why not soon" etc etc....it would be good to have patience and maybe even join in on the effort in lending a hand :D
Also, one little more note ;)
It will not be a flawless upgrade this time eather.
For most users that have 1.1rc2 with TP 0.86 and a lot of themes installed to that setup, will need to upgrade their custom themes, Blocs themes here will be updated before the release, but all the custom ones from other thememakers will not. So a new release will be a lot of work for some users ;)
But i agree with Robert (hello by the way ;) ) Most people want it last week, The features in a new release is great, and they see what they get from this site and the Alpha teamers sits, Many questions about layout is most welcome from them now, they have been seeing them for quite some time. But when it is released, and all the work is present there, we the team will have a lot of work ahead to give support on how to fix, setup and install the new TP.
Thats also one of the points in Alpha testing, We have to learn the things we have to support when it goes public to the Betas, If we don't know how to set up, maintain, or upgrade, Bloc will leave for a permanent vacation :2funny:
So a new release is much more then just a new release, it's school for us testers, and we have to learn fast to be able to help all the others that need it later :)
This should probably be stickied into the News & Updates board ;)
I am just happy to know that there will be an upgrade available soon. I think that to have such a great piece of kit such as TinyPortal is awesome and we should all be greatful for that and that it is so simple for admin and members to use. I do look forward to the next stage, but imo there is no hurry as i would want it to be bug/error free.
Keep up the great work bloc and the gang. ;D
