Title: Error in line 103
Post by: Hobbit on June 29, 2006, 03:12:42 AM
Hello everyone, I tried installing tp but this is the error I'm getting.
Quote
Table 'smf_smf.smf_tp_settings' doesn't exist
File: /home/.dua/myusername/bandoftheweek.net/test/Sources/TPortal.php
Line: 103

I have no idea what I did wrong, I followed the instructions and everything.

PS. I'm new at smf, I barely realized that it's better than phpbb.

EDIT: I uploaded everything manually, could that be the problem? SMF is a bit confusing.

The TP should be installed via the package manager inside SMF

After ur SMF is installed all u have to do  (on a fresh install preferrably) go to ur admin section

then go to packages

and upload and install TP through there

So if you manually installed everything (i.e. edited all the files urself etc etc) then yes that could be ur problem

Try through package manager and see if it works :)

Hobbit is your host in safe mode?

Was SMF installed properly? Be sure that SMF is stable before installing any mod, TP included.

Go and download manual_tp_install.php http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item101 upload it in your SMF directory and run. That will fix the database problem. Delete it afterwards.

Manual install needs also editing some files.

Give it up for agridoc!! You're a god =P

That worked, thanks a lot. All I did is upload the manual_tp_install.php file, the files had already been edited before. Now I just need to find out if I like it more than my current homepage ( www.bandoftheweek.com ) Hopefully making a theme that looks like my site isn't too hard.

EDIT: Best portal ever I think. Just what I wanted :D

How secure is it though? The last thing I want is to get my site hacked, because I get +5k a day, and my old site got hacked (due to a cheap script).

My previous host was in safe mode, so I had to learn the hard wayÃ,

Maybe Bloc has updated the installation files, just in case check http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?topic=4440.0

There was so far only a hole found in Shoutbox and there were some redirection hacks. The patch found in the link above closes the hole. For security reasons better disable Guests shout. Next version will have more protection and data keeping.

I haven't seen a site with TP on it that has been "really" hacked yet. I mean like actually edit/replace/delete files from your site, or take control of it somehow.
