Sorry i am new at this...
where do i put the folder in my smf area, like do i put it in the packages folder? :-\
I'm not sure I understand the question. There are many folders to upload for TP.
Could you elaborate a bit more?
in which folder of the smf do i put the Tinyportal0_86 that i just downloaded.
If you downloaded the package install, you go to your adminpanel and install if from the package manager, you upload the zipfile through there to :)
jeremy to install TP I would recomend you use the package manager
Unless you inend to do a manual Install which will require you to put multiple files in multiple folders and also modify many existing SMf files.
If you have a clean fresh install of SMF you will have no problem what so ever installing TP.
To access your package manager please login to SMF as the Admin and then look in Packages - you will find the option there to install new packages under "downloaded packages"

i did that and entered my password and when i clicked procced i got the error below:

You probably need to change the permissions to your tp_packages folder through FTP
Check what permissions you have to the folder, and the files in it :)
what do the permissions have to be at
Set it to 755, that should do it
okay, thans so much for your help! ;D
do i have unzip the folder when it is on the server
it is still not working
No, you dont have to unzip the folder for the install.
But if you dont get it to work, you should go for the manual install package instead.
There you have to download the package on you local machine, and extract the zip, upload the files to your server through FTP.
Then make the changes to the files needed manually (copy and paste some code in several files) then run the manual tp install file from your browser to get the database tables needed.
If you read in the install TP forum you have a guid there and a textfile to download to guide through the install
god, this is so confusing
i uploading everything and put the codes and it and got a bunch of weird codes on the page on the url of my site below.
http://web-portal.myftp.org/
and the install page is messed up too

Jeremy, I would suggest you read up on the installation methods for TinyPortal. It really is not as confusing as it seems to be. I think there's a link in my sig for installation. You probably can't use the package manager because of your PHP settings that your host has on your server. Doing it manually you have to make sure any edits you make to the files are done right. You obviously didn't do it right or you wouldn't see any of the code on your links that you provided. You can grab the files from a fresh download of SMF and start over if you need. If not, you'll have to find the errors in the code that you made.
