I've been away from the whole TP/SMF scene for a long time and have just recently got back into creating forums and enjoying it. When I came back one of the first places I looked for was this site. I don't even remember what version TP was when I last saw it as it's been a year, maybe two. SMF was only at version 1.0.5 if that gives any indication of the last time I really looked.
I was even a beta tester here, although I will admit to not contributing a thing to it. It was soon after Bloc gave me the status that I faded off and went on my little sabatical. I liked TP then and I still do.
When I came back I wasn't surprised to find that I was no longer on the team. That was just a given. But I was still a member here and that was an even bigger surprise. It was a very nice surprise.
I've never been too much for jumping into a forum where I know no one but occasionally I'll make a post or ask a question. I did that last night after reading much of the board, and then finding I hadn't read enough! ~laughs~
But the point I'm getting to is that I was welcomed in and treated like a regular. I had such a good time just being here and felt like one of the gang. That's so rare to find anywhere. It's been my experience and why I don't post often that newcomers are either ignored or just brushed off.. but that didn't happen here.
So I wanted to extend a thank you for making me welcome and say how much it was and is appreciated. I have so much going on right now that I don't know how much I'll be around or how much I could even help if I am around, but I will always remember the friendliness of the people I posted with last night. :)

This is definately a great place. When I first started to get into linux I found that a lot of places were just as you stated. Not so friendly.... So I put of linux for a long time because of the lack of friendliness to the noobs. We are all there at one time or another, so it helps to find a place that it doesn't seem to matter how much you know. I'm glad you found this place to be just that. Welcome, and here's to hoping you can have the time to spend here. :)

Well.. let's see.. last night it was the Aura theme.. and then you posted to this thread not 15 seconds after I posted, or so it seemed. ~chuckles~ Yes, I'm a goof sometimes, but I like it that way.
BTW, the Aura theme is giving me problems. I'll get with you on it later in the appropriate place once I've looked at it and ruled out User Stupidity.

That is sooo true. I simply don't usually post enough to get past the noob standing. Even over at SMF where I am a Charter Member I think I've only posted a handful of times. To be honest, I rarely have a question and it's even rarer for me to feel comfortable enough just to post to join a conversation. I'm glad I did here though. :)

Hmmm... No, it's giving me errors. I need to poke with it a bit and make sure that I didn't screw it up. It was 5am after all when I installed it. So I'll uninstall and reinstall and see if that fixes it. It probably will. I'm going to do that now so we'll soon see.
Okay.. have redone it and it still is being a pest.. but it's not user error or even theme error.. but the download itself. If I untar it onto my desktop it gives me one strange file and on the server, although it appears that the files are there they are all 0 kb. I just looked over at the Aura thread and dloaded it again, but with the same results. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, if it's me.

Hrmmm... I don't know how much you'll be able to see. I don't have it set as the default theme as it won't come up.. but here's the forum link. You should be able to choose the theme in the drop down, but it doesn't really tell you much about the problem.

Think you'd actually have to see the server side of it to see what I mean for yourself and I'm understandably not going to give out that kind of info publicly.
That problem would be in your [index.template.php]
Something is wrong with the Theme itself... I remeber having that Theme once..
Maybe you can attach that Themes [index.template.php] file & I'll have a look see @ it?
Well.. how about a screenshot since I don't think the index.template is going to do any good in this case either. So this is what I see when I look at the files. Notice the file sizes...

Try to reupload the zerobyte files, and if that doesent help, try to change the permissions for the folder they are in and see if it alowes you to upload the files correct.
If you cant change the permissions for the folders, i guess you have to contact yur host to help you with the permission settings so you can do it your self.
G6.. the problem seems to be with me and the zip file I dloaded actually.
I have no problems setting permissions and such which is a good thing since I'm my own host! ~laughs~
The problem is that when I untar the file to my desktop it only gives me one strange file. So it's the dload I'm having troubles with, not the actual theme.
Could you or Crip dload and test the file and see if it's just me?
Try this package, it's the manuall package so just unzip and upload the files and overwrite the old ones.

I just realized that was the TP files. No wonder I was looking at them and going.. huh??
G6, it's the Aura theme download I'm having problems with. I got TP dloaded and used the package installer to great effect, not a single problem there. :)
I will download the Aura and see if the package is damaged or something. :)
Seems like it was packed wrong, I rezipped the package and will add it in the Aura TP thread in Other TP Themes.

However, I don't need the theme file anymore. I had a copy of the unconverted Aura theme and Crip's conversion instructions. I put the two together and now have my very first TP theme conversion done.
I'm rather proud of myself. :laugh:
:laugh: Well, your troubble with the files made us look and correct something for the next member that want to use that theme, Congratulations for your first conversion though :)
