Title: Downloads--Message telling guest they must login or register
Post by: digitaltradz on June 11, 2006, 03:59:55 PM
I have spent about 2 hours searching the forums, but I haven't been able to find this.

I have my permissions set so Guests cannot download or enter the forum without being logged in/registered.  When a guest clicks on the download link, all they get is a blank page.  Where would code be inserted to direct them to the Login/Register screen and then back to the Downloads section once they have logged in or registered and what is the chunk of code to use?

I know it's probably something simple, but I have spent a lot of time trying to figure this one out and frankly, I'm stumped.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Make sure you have your urls set correct.
If the site have www.the site in one place and http://the site in the downloads you will have this error.

Not possible - but this is a feature that might be added.

There was an edit I made ages ago for showing guests the Topic Reply button and having it redirect to the Registration page.. To be honest, it made no difference and I find that sly little tricks like that do more to annoy potentional new members than just being honest and saying, for example, "You must be a registered member to access our downloads".
