Title: Downgrading to SMF 1.0.5
Post by: YahMan on August 06, 2005, 06:51:09 PM
I'd like to use the TinyPortal on my site, since I've had no problems on my test site. My test site however, is 1.0.5 and my live site is 1.1 Beta 3 Public. Now I can do 2 things: downgrade to 1.0.5. or adjust manually so that TinyPortal runs on 1.1. Beta 3 Public. What's the best thing I can do?

The best thing? I don't think there's a best thing to do really. It's all up to you. Which site do you want it to run on? Tinyportal installs through the package manager for version 1.0.5. But if you want to do it on the beta then you'll have to manually edit the files for it to work.

True, but what about my database when I downgrade? Will my topics, members etc. still be there?

As long as you tell it to use the same database it will not lose anything. However, it's always a good idea to do a backup before you mess with anything.

Hmmm....  actually, I have seen messages on the SMF forums that indicate that you can not downgrade once you have used 1.1....
