I dont know why some get this "temp" error when they try to install, and some dont.
But i DO know that when you get that, you have to go for the manual install package to be able to have TP on your forum.
It sounds a lot worse than it actually is.
If you can copy and paste you will have your portal in place with in 30 min from when you start.
In this thread you have index.template.php for the default them allready made for 1.0.7
http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?topic=5065.0
Here you find the manual install package and the text file with the step by step guide for the installation
http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?topic=2481.0
Note that you have one separate download for the database install, and one for the actuall files you need to upload to the forum folder, and the last download in the first post is the textfile where you have the info needed. (now when you have the index.template.php file done, you can skipp that long part in the installl, so you can be up and running in 15 min Smiley
Or you can try this TP package that have been changed for 1.0.7. NOTE!! Works for some servers, and not for others
I have a SMF 1.0.7 forum.
But the problem I'm having is that no matter which link I use here, the TP download is a zip file of only 9kb which WinZip shows as corrupt or incomplete. Judging by the file size, I'd say incomplete. I've tried 6 times and can only get the 9kb file. I have no problem downloading elsewhere, so I know it's not a firewall or restrictions issue with my computer/connection. Any suggestions?
It was downloaded and checked OK.
Something's flaky. With Firefox and Opera, I can only get 9kb to download. I.E. pulls in 156kb, still not the full package and still unusable.
I hate Windows, but have to use it for a while. I'll try again later when I'm back in Linux. Thanks for the reply.
A problem was found with the package install file not working with 1.07.
The problem is fixed so go to http://www.tinyportal.net/smf/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item99 to download the updated file.
Warning: Package install of any SMF mod is not possible if your server has Safe mode ON.
Backup your files and database as you should do before upgrading or installing any SMF mod.
Put your forum into maintenance mode when installing TP.
Read on how to use the package manager in SMF 1.1 Online Manual, Package Manager (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?board=49.0;sort=subject).
If you have not installed a mod or upgraded before take a tour in SMF 1.1 Online Manual (http://docs.simplemachines.org/).
intrestingly enough this was the first mod I installed
I downloaded and read the install bits ( manual install )
as that is what I am use to.
then I found there were edits in the read me that were not in the php file.
so I then went and did the package deal
when I got an error per file cause of chmod I simply manually set them and/ or manually uploaded the peticular file.
1.07 on Linux
That worked perfectly, agridoc. Thank you. It's a very nice mod.
(I still like to think that it's because I'm in Linux now that it worked, but whatever.) ;D
An Error Has Occurred!
2: copy(/home/flatstic/public_html/forum/Themes/default/images/english/dlmanager.gif): failed to open stream: Permission denied
File: /home/flatstic/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs-Package.php

...is my problem you might of posted on it but i have not seen it yet ...Thanks for all yall do also
This is permissions error to one or more files, Do a bit of search on this, there are several threads about it and how to solve.
Use the search term "failed to open stream:" Even if the file isn't quite the same, the issue and how to solve it is though :)
some good info in this thread. I see where some of my problems come from...
2 things i learned today...only install when in maintenance mode and only while running default theme...or it that just for a TP install? thanks H
Is that right?
All installations goes to and through default theme, thats the way all mods and themes are made, otherwise it would be impossible for the mod and theme makers to do their work to all the diffrent setups there can be ;)
thank you...time will tell, but I believe this sticky will get worn out...LOL peace
