Title: How do you "restart your forum"?
Post by: bigsimon on April 16, 2006, 05:25:53 AM
This is driving me crazy! Can anyone tell me how to "restart [my] forum"?  That's what it says to do after installing TinyPortal, but I don't see any Admin options to do that.

Am I going to have to restart Apache, or the computer the forum is hosted on?

Restarting the forum is only a matter of loading the page to your forum. Once you click the link, your forum has been restarted. :)

Oh.

Well... if that's the case, then "restarting my forum" didn't help.  *sigh*

I finally got TinyPortal installed.  It says it's working...

But it's not.  I'm not getting the TinyPortal Admin page to pop come up, or even a link to it.

Oh well.

Manually check to make sure all the files were uploaded to your server and/or the file sizes don't read "0".

If they aren't there or aren't (fully) uploaded, try manually re-uploading them.

Or run the database file again from your browser.
You find the manual database install file in the downloadsection here at TinyPortal :)

Make sure your theme is TP supported

Okay... all the files are there and the right size.  I've even re-uploaded them just to be sure.  I ran the manual TP install database file I downloaded here.  I'm running themes downloaded from this site, including the current one, Amber.

Any more suggestions?

You have a link that we can look at?

I dont know what version of the SMF you have, but a common problem is to get the right themes for the version of SMF and TP.

if you have SMF 107 with TP installed now, ou have to download these TP compatible themes.

And if you have the SMF 1.1rc2
you have to use the TP themes from this link

Sorry... I guess I should have been more forthcoming with information.

I'm running 1.1rc2 with TinyPortal 0.86.  The themes I'm using are for 1.1rc2.  I've double-checked that one.

You can see the site with Amber set as the default theme at http://www.zenvious.com - maybe you can make heads or tails of what's going on.  *chuckle*

While your theme may be for SMF 1.1 RC2, it looks like you don't have a SMF 1.1 RC2 theme that is for TP. Any SMF theme you want to use has to be converted to work with TP. Follow G6's link for TP themes.

I don't know why they wouldn't be converted for TP, since I downloaded them from the converted themes section of this website.  But I'll try again...

Okay.  I guess the ones I had installed (that I downloaded here) weren't TP themes... but just SMF themes on the TP site.  Right?

Alrighty... I've installed TP themes Neptune and Oxygen and noticed an error.  Here's what it says:

"Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tportal_version() in /hsphere/local/home/bigsimon/zenvious.com/Sources/Load.php(1607) : eval()'d code on line 254"

So... I have no idea what that means.  I mean, it's obviously not getting the TP version.  Is it possible that it's not even recognizing TP is installed?  *sigh*

Try uploading all the TP files manually from the "files_only" package.

Alrighty.  Tried that. Still nothing.

If you need, my PHP information can be found at http://www.zenvious.com/phpinfo.php - if that'll help.

Somethings missing.... I think it's looking for the TPortal tables and not finding them. Just a thought, have you tried running the manual install file? If you switch to your default theme does everything work?

Yup... I've done that.

Trying default theme now... but it keeps telling me my sessions is timing out on me.

It's not letting me switch to the default theme.  In fact, it's not letting me into the admin control panel at all.  When I try it gives the following answer:

"Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again."

When I try logging out and back in again, I get the same thing.

EDIT:  I deleted the cookie for the site and managed to log in and change the theme.  That didn't make any difference.  I uninstalled the mod and am reapplying it now...

Still no go.

*sigh*

im facing the same problems.
i've tried installing it via the package manager but got the evergoing sub-package.php error.
then i tried manual installing. ok no errors but i cant seem to get the admin thingy at the ACP as well. i even uninstall the 1.0.7 / 1.1RC2 patch and tried installing the TP files again but still cant work. i even chmod the files that come with the manual install to 755.
i saw that it could be recalling the tables from the database, but how do i go about calling the database from the manual install?
