Hi. I'm thinking about installing TP, but I've got a few questions before I go ahead. I've checked the FAQ and used the search facility and I can't find the answers there, so here goes...
1 - If I install TP and find that I don't like it for some reason, is there a simple way of uninstalling it, permanently, without buggering-up my existing forum?
2 - When backing up my forum, will the same backup in SMF's admin panel save whatever's on the portal as well?
3 - Will the portal reflect whichever theme the member has chosen to use with the forum, or will it only take on the forum default, or does it have its own theme independent of the forum?

You can unse the uninstaller in the Packagemanager. If it for some reason dont uninstall, you can remove the codestrings manually, and thats not very difficult.

If you make the backup from the Adminsection before the install of TinyPortal you will only have the SMF db backuped. If you backup after from the adminpanel, you will have the compleate db with tinyportal aswell.

The portal goes with the default themes and install it there. If your members have any other theme to show in their prifile settings, The portal still apply to the default theme.
If you install the TinyPortal, you wont be able to use the themes you have now, TinyPortal have to be used with the TP themes you can find here at tinyportal.

Are the themes specifically for TP and completely independent of the forum themes, i.e. in different directories?
The reason I ask is that my forum default theme is Helios, but several of my members log in from work, so they prefer to use Babylon or the old Yabb theme, so that the colours don't attract unnecessary attention from passing co-workers. The Helios theme, being so dark, stands out like a sore thumb on a monitor in an office environment.
So are you saying that I would have to choose just one theme for the TP and the forum members would have to put up with it?

Not exactly Blunt. There are SMF versions of the themes for a forum only, and there are TP enabled versions for SMF/TP sites. Its easy to take off the SMF ones and change them to TP enabled ones (you do it exactly the same way you installed the SMF ones). The TP versions of the themes are available in the downloads area on here.
Exactly, The themes are exactly the same as the SMF ones, and look the same, Just modifyed to suit the portal.
So all the funktions are still the same within the forum and the users choise of themes :)

It's because of the way themes are integrated into SMF using loads of templates in different directories, isn't it? I think I'm gradually figuring out what gets called from where. I've designed a few skins and mods for vBulletin forums before, and it all seemed a lot more easy and straightforward than it is with SMF. Maybe it's just what I'm used to, though.

I'm gradually finding my way around the portal controls, but I really don't understand how to change the layout of the centre ground in the front page. I could do with an illustrated guide, or something - is there one, please?

If I post an article, it appears in the same frame as the forum post snippets, without anything to set it apart from the forum posts. It doesn't make any difference whether I opt to have a frame or just the title - it turns out looking the same.
I expect I'll figure it out on my own, sooner or later, but if anybody's got some timesaving hints, I'd appreciate it. Thanks :)
I've also got every page showing a warning triangle and the message 'Error on page' in Internet Explorer. Why is that? Any ideas?
