Title: TPShout Background Colour
Post by: Max on August 14, 2013, 11:35:16 PM
Is there any way to change the background colour of the shouts (the boxes around them)? The text colour (white/gray) is fine, but the background could be grey or something so you can see stuff better.

Thought so.  There's a thread here which deals with this.  If you read the last post, there's a couple of files attached which you can use.  http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=32443.msg267377#msg267377

You'll have to open that TPShout.css file up and change the address of your theme before uploading it to your theme folder though.

It does work as you can see here on one of my sites http://guitaristguild.com

Thanks the colour is fine now.
I can't get the image arrow to work though, I guess I can't find the correct path :/
Also the avatars are huge, normally they're smaller.

I don't know how it happened but in the file "/Themes/backnblack_204/TPShout.css?fin20", find the following ...

.tp_shoutupper
{
background: url(themes/backnblack_204/images/shout_arrow.png) no-repeat bottom left;
margin: 0 5px 0 0;
text-align: right;
padding: 0;
height: 20px;
}

change the first line to ...

background: url(images/shout_arrow.png) no-repeat bottom left;

Then save it and upload it, replacing the one that is there.  That should fix the arrow.  Oh, and you might want to rename the original file to TPShout.css.bak or something like that first, in case you mess it up.

Oh, also, your SMF copyright is overwriting your TP copyright at the bottom of your site.  I thought that Crip had fixed that with this theme.  You may want to ask over at his site about that --> http://www.jpr62.com/theme/index.php?action=forum

I do some support over there so I will take a look at his site and see if that issue has been addressed.

Thanks, but the arrow is still not there.
Also the avatars are still huge.
I'll ask Crip about the copyright when I get this stuff fixed. :)

I see you fixed the arrow. ;)  The avatar can be adjusted in that TPShout.css file that you uploaded. Look for where it says

tp_shoutavatar .avy2 img{
width: 50px;
max-height: 100%;

And change the width to 30px in stead of 50px  The refresh your browser to see the changes Ctrl + F5 ;)
