I am trying to activate the shout box.  I created a block and selected Single Shout as the type, viewable by everybody on the front page.

After I save it and view the front page I see a block with the message "parse error" and some coding. 

I have deleted the block.

Any suggestions?

Ron, a couple of options here.  make me a temp admin and I'll take a look.  (I'm already registered as lurkalot ).  or follow these instructions to creat a shoutbox block. ;)

1: Add a new block,  TP Module type. and save it. 
2: Return to that block in the block manager, and just below where it says "TP Module" you'll see a little radio button, it says "TPSHout"  Tick that box and save again.
3: Click Tinyportal admin button on your main menu, and then choose Modules.  Make sure   "TP Simple Shout" is On, and save.

Also (Warning, please backup your Downloads etc before doing this next step, or you will lose them) you need to upgrade to TP 1.0 as you are still running TP 1.0 RC4, that might cure some problems.

Mick, the shout box is working fine now and your latest file download fixed the bubble graphic too.  Looks very nice.  Thank you very much.  I will check into using the article feature as you suggested.

I know you know how do this but we have a Doc on that in the dropdown at the bottom of this page (visible only to the TP Team) --> Why is the shoutbox not showing in TP 1.0? (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?topic=23026.0)

It's mostly for people that upgrade to TP 1.0 but it should be applicable for anyone that has this issue.  Will mark this topic solved. O0
