Title: Can I Eliminate 'Forum' Button
Post by: Fred Biles on June 13, 2011, 07:05:36 PM
We are running SMF 1.1.13 and I went to try adding TinyPortal.

Before adding TinyPortal, all users would see a Home button on the main menu which takes them to the main board index.

After installing TinyPortal, as an admin, I saw an extra button that said 'Forum' that had the same effect as the 'Home' button used to (taking you to the main index). However, the 'Home' button was no longer redirecting to the main index, but rather to a couple posts instead.

I had TinyPortal set initially so that only admins. could use TinyPortal so regular members were not seeing the 'Forum' button. (We want to play around with TinyPortal for some time before trying to use it with members.)For them, they could not get to the main index of the board because of the 'Home' button no longer working correctly.

I don't really see why there would even be a need for a 'Forum' button that seems to do what the 'Home' button did.
It looks like the code that sets up the 'Forum' button is in
/Themes/default/index.template.php/

Could I eliminate the changes to /Themes/default/index.template.php/
(by putting the original /Themes/default/index.template.php/ back after installing TP) ?

Hello Fred Biles,

Welcome to the TP Support Site.

It is likely that what you are seeing when clicking the Home button is the TinyPortal FrontPage.  When you click the Forum button you will indeed be taken to the Forum BoardIndex.  May I have a link to your site so that we can see what is going on?
