Title: installed and problems
Post by: darkangel on January 25, 2011, 03:56:24 PM
Link to my site: http://thefantasiesattic.com/runes/index.php
SMF version: SMF 1.1.2
TP version: TinyPortal 1.0 RC1
Default Forum Language: English
Theme name and version: all of them--even default
Browser Name and Version: Firefox 3.6.1.3--IE8--Google Chrome8--Safari5.03
Mods installed:

   TinyPortal    1.102

   SMF 1.0.20 / 1.1.12 Update    1.0

this is my test site and when it first installed I could have sworn it appeared on the forum page but after I updated one of my other forums I noticed that one theme will not be full screen and the other thing was no portal or forum blocks are seen.

went back to test forum and yup there too. tried different browsers and even closed the windows and reopened in new

I have since reupped all smf files fresh totally removing the previous ones then installed tp once more and still as you can see no blocks showing except in admin. The only thing still installed are all the themes which this shows this way in all of them.

Did I miss something? I thought I saw a post regarding this but have looked and looked and can't see it...of course with all the focusing now I can hardly see anything.

**EDIT***

well again have been playing with the controls and darn it all after I post here now they show and I think behave...sorry so just disregard this for now

I will return with info on live forum progress since I may have to do the same thing there.

Could have been that your browser just needed to work through it's cache.  It might have been better to clear the browser cache right after you installed.  In any case, it looks great. O0 Good Job !!!

thanks sweety I think so too but I went thru each and every section and rechosse the selections.

now for the live site that goes to my store. everything behaves tp-wise but I need help with a wee bitty problem. right now I have the theme using the default index.template.php file because if I allow it to use its own boardindex/display/index files it is scrunched up. please see image

just too cramped but I think it is because Crip made it with tp info installed--for previous version. It is the gorgeous Black14k_TP theme.

oh I forgot to add that....on the test site this theme behaves correctly, I even tried overwriting existing files with those and no joy.

How can I get it to be like it was before and wide.

Hmmm, I tried looking at http://thefantasiesattic.net/attic/index.php but I don't think that's the right site since it's still on the older version of TP.  Which live site is the one that you upgraded to the latest TP?

OK, I see.  It is an old theme but ...

Well, just installing TP shouldn't have done that but I'm not sure.  Have you looked in Admin --> Current Theme to see if there is a setting for width or a setting to use TP or not.  I know Bloc put that TP setting in the current theme on his themes for support of TP 0.98 but Crip may not have.  On this issue, I suggest that you post over at Crip's site about this and see if he can figure it out.  FWIW, any theme that works fine with SMF 1.1.12 without the latest TP should work just fine with it installed as no theme edits are required to use the latest TinyPortal.

Crip's site is here --> http://www.jpr62.com/theme/index.php?action=forum

ok will do. I thought since it is older and her updated it to work with former versions of tp that some old code was not playing nicely with the newer code.

will pounce him to see if he may know what to do. thanks

I think that is exactly what is happening, you've got an extra td on each side, each with a div in it but no content in the div.

could you tell me where and I can go after them to get rid of them. but...why would the working one in the test site not behave when i used it?

This would be my advice, I am not familiar with the theme.  Older versions of TP needed theme modification to support TP, so I would guess those two td's are that support.  But I am not sure where they would have been added or how.

update----problem solved and boy do i feel stupid

there are a couple of darling little arrow heads in the main nav bar at opposite ends...i swear i never noticed them before---they are not there at my http://thefantasiesattic.net forum but they appeared now and those darn things are what kept it from going wide.

I just went and started clicking on all the arrows for blocks and wow it grew

sorry to bother you guys with my very blond moment....i should not have been born brunette...lol ::)

Not to open a can o'worms... but this isn't quite solved.  Those little triangles are shrinking the sidebars but every time someone visits they won't know to click those little triangles.

Yep, as I stated over at Crip's site, this is one of the nicest themes that Crip ever did.  For those of you who don't know or don't remember, Crip made this theme for a specific purpose.  G6's son was very ill at the time and Crip did this theme to help her pay some of her expenses.  All of the proceeds went to her.

Obviously, Crip had added a few features to the theme that even I didn't remember or maybe never even knew about.  I'm glad you guys are getting it worked out.
