Hi,

I currently have SMF 1.1.12 and have downloaded TP 1.0 rc1 and am yet to install.
My SMF forum currently resides in a /forum subfolder on my host.

My intent was to replace my Joomla CMS with a TP installation.
The Joomla is in the root folder / with links to the forum in subfolder /forum

Ideally, I'd like to have TP load at the root of my domain from the root / folder, then have the forums themselves load-out from the /forum subfolder.

Is that at all possible?

I've tried going through all the documentation and my forum search ... well I'm struggling to think of keywords to describe what I'm trying to do and get decent search results. I'm sure we have other users who have requested this sort of installation.

Please help (if you can)

Sorry if I'm being the resident genius(read: n00b), is the documentation below "Can I Still Make An External Page Outside TP/SMF Directory? ", the stuff I'm actually looking for?

ie. create a psuedo TP front Page from the root?

The reason for my noobness, is that I have yet to install TP.
Our long standing setup (look and feel) will be altered when installing TP.
I'd really like to maintain the Forum setup/view whilst having the TP funtionality available from the Root directory.

Possible? or s pipedream.

Sorry but what you are asking is not possible with Tinyportal, it has to be installed through the smf package manager like any other mod, so it becomes part of smf.

In my installation, I placed SMF / TP in a sub-directory from the root.

I have a 'landing page' in the domain's root directory that will display a quick graphic and link to the 'domain.com/forums/index.php' that will subsequently load the forums / portal. The landing page also has code to automatically refresh in 8 seconds to load to the forums...

There is the SMF SSI function that you can include in this landing page that can extract data from the SMF database that can display as much information on that page as you want... it involves an mild amount of knowledge of HTML with adding the php codeblocks to show the info.

I'm going to "fiddle" with an implimentation on my offline xampp copy of the live site and see.

I have a fair knowledge of html and a bit of php.... perhaps if i get it working and working well (hopefully) I'll post some useful/useless information in this thread.
