Hi,
I am trying to upgrade my tp version to 1.0rc1. When I tried to upgrade it, it told me to uninstall the previous version (0.9.8 - I know, I haven't been keeping up with the newest versions.), which I did. I then tried to upgrade using the package manager. I am now being told that the version I downloaded from here (http://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=97) is "The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF."
Here is my SMF version info.
Version Information:
Forum version: SMF 1.1.11
Current SMF version: SMF 1.1.11
I do not know what to do from here. Can someone give me a hand?
Thank you!
Tamara
ETA: I am sorry - I seem to have put this in the wrong section. Big apologies!
Hello tpruessner,
Welcome to the TP Support Site.
Tamara, no problem, I will move this to the regular Support board.
Sorry for the delay in responding. Are you sure that you are using SMF 1.1.11? What you are describing should not happen with that version. Can you give me a link to your site. I need to look at something there.

Thank you for the welcome and for moving this topic - I appreciate it!

I did find instructions on here to manually remove the old version of TP, though to be honest, I would rather not go that route if possible. However, if that is how I need to do it, then that is how I will get it done. :)
ZarPrime, is that what I need to do - manually remove the old version of TP? Or is there another way?
I looked at your site. It appears that TP 0.9.8 is still on there. Before you can upgrade to the latest version you will have to remove the old version. There are 3 ways to do that.
1. Uninstall TP 0.9.8 in the Package Manager. If that can't be done for some reason or another then you will have to do one of the other 2 below.
2. Manually remove TP 0.9.8. Removing a Mod manually really isn't that bad and anyone who runs an SMF site will have to do this at some point in time. Here is a link that will tell you how to do that --> http://www.docs.tinyportal.co.uk/index.php?topic=147
3. Download the Large Upgrade from SMF for the version of SMF that you are using (or want to upgrade to) and apply the upgrade. This will remove all of your Addons. In this case, any Addons that you want to keep will have to be reinstalled. More information on this option is available at SMF --> http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?board=3.0;sort=subject
If you select #2 above, you should NOT remove the TP databases (as mentioned at the bottom of that Doc) if you plan on installing the latest version of TinyPortal. In this way, all of your TP content will still be there once you install the latest version.
Whichever way you choose to do it, you should backup your Forum and Database before beginning.
