Title: Truncate Forum Post?
Post by: Gossamer on October 14, 2010, 07:26:33 AM
I'm curious to know if there is a way to truncate a forum post.  At the moment, I have the frontpage set to pull articles from a member submittable news forum.  Due to the nature of the board I'll be setting up, these can be very lengthy.

Is there a way to have the article cut off after so many characters and then give a "read more" type link that will then go to the actual thread on the forum?

I've considered using external articles for this same effect, but this is a feature that I'd like my members to take advantage of and I fear that using the external article with the intro post would be a bit daunting for many of them, thus making them shy away.

Ah, thank you!  Hopefully that will come through.  In the meantime, I'm gonna have to figure out a slightly more complicated method for the system on my board to work.  That would be awesome as a future update though.  ^_^
