Hi guys
This is on an existing site that has been operating trouble free for some time, it is smf2 beta3 with TP latest version.
I started getting this two days ago and have been trying to fix it since. The site is operating perfectly even with the following occuring. Is there a log or anywhere I can check to find out specifically what is causing it?
There has been a problem with the database!
This is a notice email to let you know that SMF could not connect to the database, contact your host if this continues.

Someone else may have an idea about this but I've gotta tell you, I occasionally get these kind of messages myself. I've never been able to figure out what is happening with this, nor have I ever been overly concerned with it. I think it probably happens if someone accesses my site when my host is doing something like backups or Maintenance on my Server but I can't be sure. The last time it happened on my site was 3 EMails I received on 8/10/10 between 6:15 AM and 6:19 AM from nobody@my server that read the same thing as yours did ...

If you are concerned about it, send a message to your host and ask them if they were doing something that might have caused this at that particular time. You might be able to look at the server logs and get a clue as to what it's all about but it's probably not a big deal. I'd be interested in what they might tell you about it.

I did however contact the support people from where I lease the server and they couldn't find anything, said all they could say for sure is it had to be withing the mysql data base.
Is there a way to generate a detailed error log for smf?
Hmmm, not sure. Wait for Ichbin or Lesmond to answer this one. They are more well versed in server matters than I am.

I don't know why that happens. It happened to me a long time ago, but it hasn't since. I'd ask at SMF and see if they know why.
Sorry but I cant add any more to this, I have had this happen to me also a few times in the past, I may add that it has not happened with this site!
Happens to me sometimes too. It's just a hiccup, no software or hardware is infallible.

Thought it was just server glitch to be honest. Maybe the server was going through some maintenance or something. ???
I have had a quick google on this and found one possibility...
Quoteraising the max connections mysql will allow. It maybe defaulting to a level below what the server is capable of handling.
