mattb,

Welcome to the TP Support Site.

Are you wanting to put the first post of a single topic into a block on your FrontPage, or are you want to put all of the topics from a particular board onto your FrontPage?  Have a look at the FrontPage of this site.  Do you see the 2 topics on the top, "Languages files" and "TinyPortal updated to1.0 beta 5.2"?  Those are both topics from a particular board, the "News Board".  Is that what you are trying to do?

It would also help if I could have a link to your site so that I can see how you have it set up right now.

Matt,

The 5.2 zipfile contains the full version.  Will the Package Manager let you uninstall TP 1.0 beta 5-1?  If it will let you do that, then uninstall it and then install TP 1.0 beta 5.2.  The full version will install.  If it won't let you install beta 5-1 then just try to upload the 5.2 archive to the Package Manager and install it.  It should install correctly.  If not, let us know.

mattb,

Needless to say, this topic has become very confusing to me.  I started getting confused when you mentioned "Language Files" but then you were talking about setting up what to show on your FrontPage.  Anyway, I'm still confused and I've still never seen a link to your site so that I can see how you have the FP set up  right now.

In any case, if you want to change how things are shown on your FrontPage on your site, you will need to go to the FrontPage Settings of your TPAdmin section.  That is where you can make these changes.  For instance, on this site, for "What to display on frontpage:", we have selected "Forum-posts and articles - sorted on date" and we are using Article Layout A.  At the bottom of the FP settings, we have selected 2 "News" boards to display posts from and we have "Number of posts/articles to display on frontpage:" set to 5.

Other than this, I don't know what to tell you other than that it's a good idea for you to experiment with these settings to get the look that you want.  We can't make these decisions for you.

mattb,

Sorry for the late response.  This one seems to have fallen through the cracks. ;)

The "Selected topics only (checked)" is a new feature of TinyPortal and most people don't know how to use it yet.  When using this setting, only topics that you ave "promoted" to the FrontPage will be shown on the FP.  If you go to one of your topics, at the top, above the reply button, you should see a button that says "promote to frontpage".  Clicking that button will publish that topic to the FP.
